Here's a question...

Since I'm applying to vet school and have worked as a tech in many animal hospitals and a medical recovery shelter, I often get asked questions from friends and family about their pets.

Most questions are fine, just general questions about basic cat and dog care, but sometimes the situation is more serious and I must admit I feel uncomfortable giving any definitive advice.

Of course I always reiterate that my advice is just that, advice, and that I'm not a licensed tech or a vet. I usually encourage them to call their vet if they have any doubt at all about their animal's well-being.

Anyway, I was just wondering about the legalities of giving advice and how others have dealt with similar situations.

It is legal in most states in the United states
and me & my friends have given advice to

I do the same as you: give advice when asked with the disclamer that they are taking advice from someone who hasn't started vet school yet.
