I'm currently in the 1st semester of my junior year, Biology major with chemistry and humanities minor
sGPA: 3.9
everything else GPA: 4.0
cumulative GPA: 3.95
taking MCAT in January
~70 hours shadowing derm/ENT
Volunteer:
Peer mentor 2 years now
~50 hours at hospice (will have 100+ by app time)
About to start volunteering at nursing home next week as well
2 years on Academic team
Will be starting research next semester
Jobs/etc:
Haven't had an "official" job since high school. I have been doing odd jobs like mowing grass and private tutoring (pays good and tax free!), but will this hurt my app?
What are my chances looking like for state schools?
Thanks for the advice!

You need more clinical experiences.... otherwise you are fine.
No, doing odd jobs will neither harm nor benefit your application. You may put down tutoring as an EC since it demonstrates some leadership and affinity for teaching.

It's tough to even get a volunteer position at a hospital around here. Won't the nursing home volunteering count?

Hello!
I am interested if people can comment on what my chances are:
I graduated with a PharmD and MBA in 2009 and have been working in pharmaceutical industry since then and also moonlighting as at a retail pharmacy on weekends. I have a lot of clinical experience through pharm school rotations and also post graduate experience. I had been working in the pharmacy since high school as well.
I decided to apply pretty late this year so studied for the MCAT in 15 days and got a 26Q (10 BS, 7 PS, 9 VR WS Q). My first choice of school is univ of mississippi which is a MD school but based on their website, their ave MCAT score is 28 with 3.7 or 3.8 i think for GPA. Do I have a shot considering my working experience, previous career in health care? I graduated from pharm school with cum laude honors with a 3.6 and MBA GPA was 3.7.... its a bit hard to calculate a science vs non science GPA with professional programs as I only took pre pharm requirements.
I am debating on whether or not to apply to DO schools, but i am not sure!
Other schools I have applied to ( I live in Chicago but will be married to a MS resident hence applying to MS school as they only take MS residents!)
1. Chicago Medical School Rosalind Franklin
2. Univ of IL
3. Rush
4. Loyola
5. Univ of Alabama
6. Meharry in TN
7. Univ of MS
I appreciate any feedback! Thanks.
