Hey,
So St. George is my top choice, but I was wondering if I could get some info on communication. I talk to my parents on a daily basis, we are extremely close. I also have a fiance' that I would like to talk to as well. Is there a certain plan that you get to talk to people in the states? I have done mission trips in South and Central America and while I am there I usually don't call home because of the cost, but if I am going to be there for a few years it might be a little different. lol
So Questions:
How do you call home, how often do you call home, and how much does it cost?

So i use skype to call home and that is free. I will skype my parents almost every day. There are some of my classmates that have magic jack. You have a US number and you friends and family can call you on that number. You have a phone that you hook up to your computer. That is like $20 a year I think. DO NOT get the international plans with ATT or Verison or who every you cell phone is through in the US. You will end up with a large bill at the end of the month. Use skype or magic jack. GOOD LUCK!!!!

skype is very popular, although i personally hate that video hosting site. i've discovered that google+ (not gmail) video works VERY well and have never had connection problems (unlike skype where it seems i have to jump through hurdles almost every time)

i also use google voice so that i can text friends and family in the US from my computer for free. basically you sign up and get a free US phone number and can text people for free using it.

like sbrdvm said, avoid the international plans-not worth it! you can get a little pay as you go island phone for REALLY cheap so that you can communicate with people on the island (and technically back home, but it'll cost them quite a bit)

Does anybody know what people do for communication WITHIN the island? Do people use cell phones much? Will my smart phone be useless in Grenada? I believe I have an unlimited data plan but I feel like having my smart phone would still run up huge fees with AT&T. What to do?
