Pretty sure they don't send an official email. It's all in the Midwestern portal. Go to that website where you scheduled your interview date and it should have the info on the deposit, matriculation agreement, etc etc.

Yup. I've run a bunch of excel spreadsheets looking at cost and it's a little scary. But if you work hard your first couple years out and put everything towards paying it off, it's not impossible. I think it's worth it in the end to have a career. :thumbup:

Also, the cost is going to be around the same as many of the private schools like Tufts, NYU, Boston, USC, Midwestern-AZ, etc so it's not we're the only ones looking at the cost of dental school.

During our interview/tour at MWU-AZ, the dean told us at IL they do it "Canadian" style, where they post a question on a wall/door, you read it and then you think about how to answer it, then during the interview you just discuss this one question. (I think it was just one... could be remembering wrong).

Hello all! The interview style at Midwestern University CDMI is very unique:
*8 rooms
*8 questions
*2 minute reading + 8 minute answering=10 minutes/room

Some traditional questions, many critical thinking questions.
Just be yourself and you will be fine.

As far as boards are concerned, we (the inaugural class of 2015) are scheduled to take them sometime in the late spring of 2013 before the start of 3rd year (Summer 2013). The student:faculty ratio right now in pre-clinical sim laboratory is 6:1 <---one of the best in the country! :)

I have been wait-listed at my in-state school, so it seems I may be going here. If anyone knows of good housing options in the area, I would love to hear about them. I am HPSP, and don't plan on taking out any loans, so I will have ~26K to live on annually. I have a girlfriend who will be coming with me, but her salary is yet unknown. So... cheap housing is obviously a must!

I have already looked at on-campus housing, and like some of the options I see. But because I will not be living alone, off-campus housing would be nice.

Any suggestions?

I interviewed the 9th ...I'm not sure how many seats are left but the Facebook page has 71 members so I'm assuming the are 80%full? Hopefully we hear something by next week!

I interviewed at the beginning of Feb. According to the school, at the beginning of Feb., the class was half full (approx. 70 spots remaining)

I forgot who said this (either the dean or Abbey) Anyway, they said that they pull people from the wait list based on the needs of the class. They used the example that if they don't have enough people from the northeast region of the states they will focus on wait listed people from that area. I got the impression that this happens throughout the cycle but they didn't actually say that.

Sorry I don't know anyone who has been accepted. I posted in the Facebook group and asked. I was wait listed at two schools last cycle so I feel your pain.

Just got the "alternate" letter today. Probably in the same boat as a lot of people. Hopefully a lot of you choose other schools!!!

I don't think so but my general opinion is they don't hurt.

Someone posted on the Facebook group that they were told the wait list is not processed until after interviews are done and that they aren't ranked. I'm sure we will see a lot of movement in April. I believe April is when AADSAS tells all schools who has multiple deposits down. Good luck!

i was also accepted to vcu today, which is close to home and really where i was hoping to attend. i also withdrew from roseman today. CDMI really impressed me during the interview and i would've really enjoyed attending there. the faculty and students are great people and the facilities are amazing. i also drove by the new clinic being built and it's in a great location. yes it's expensive, but well worth the money if you were to choose to attend. but at the end of the day, vcu is much cheaper and, more importantly, a better fit for me and my family.

Abbey sent me an email. I sent her one yesterday just asking if acceptances had been sent out. So I dont know if that sped up my response and hurt me or not. So I dont know if she was responding to my email or going through the rounds.

From what I remember from the interview I think they re-assess all the waitlisted applications as spots open up. There was some movement through the summer last year so hopefully some space will open up for us.

Just got accepted on April 5 after interviewing on March 20. I plan on taking the spot and look forward to seeing many of you in the fall.

Anyone know how I can get one credit hour in physics with the least amount of effort? I did an undergrad in Mechanical Engineering and took tons of it through the ME department, but only 7 credits through the physics department.

Midwestern cdmi is a new school and you might have ups and downs with that but I don't think accreditation should be a worry. cost wise.... If you got into a cheaper school it only makes sense to go to that school. At Midwestern you come out with some serious debt that will be hard to pay off for anyone.

I wonder how many predents got acceptance for those of who took MBS program at midwestern? I was told if you maintain 3.2 GPA in 2 quarters then you are guaranteed for an interview. Also, how many % they accept from their interviewees? Thanks!

Every new dental school only gets initial accreditation in the beginning. You can't become fully accredited until you graduate your first class. The newest dental schools such as Midwestern-AZ (2006), ASDOH (2003), UNLV (2001) all turned out fine so I wouldn't be too worried. Midwestern put out money to build the facilities and support the faculty so they have an investment in it as well. They're not going to abandon the dental school overnight :laugh:

Obviously, if you've been accepted to a cheaper school then you should consider that before you make a final decision. But NYU, USC, Loma Linda, Penn, Tufts, Western, Pacific, Boston, and ASDOH all have a cost of attendance around 340K or greater. That's about the same range as Midwestern-IL once you take out some of their more excessive calculations. It costs alot to educate a dentist, but I'm sure the majority of the students at those schools will be okay repaying their debt. Just be glad the school's not stuck in the middle of the city where rent would be much more. If you live within your means and don't go crazy with the loan money, it should be fine.

I sent a letter of intent, and a letter to update my experience, I was also in weekly contact with Abbey. It seemed to help. I had letter of rec I was about to send as well. I tried to make my name seen and I guess it worked. Show them you want to come. That's really all I did.

Of those accepted, did any of you not complete Microbio, Physiology or Anatomy? I won't be able to take any of those, I can fit in Biochem. On top of that, my BCP is at 2.66 and it says their minimum is 2.75 so do you guys think I shouldn't even bother applying to Midwestern? Any feedback would be great, thanks.

They're pretty stiff about pre-reqs. That's probably too many missing pre-reqs. But you're just walking into a rejection with the BCP. Is that the AADSAS calculates BCP GPA?
