View Full Version : 2016 ****The Official Case Western Reserve Class of 2016 Acceptance Thread**** BoxerRumble 11-25-2011, 07:27 AM Congratulations everyone!! casedentalmed 11-25-2011, 01:19 PM Make sure you join us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Admissions-CWRU-School-of-Dental-Medicine/259075730804009) and Google+ (https://plus.google.com/b/109923634005413162902/109923634005413162902). Private groups forthcoming. Also, if you are withdrawing your interview spot, please contact the Admissions Office as soon as possible. There are many people who would like to move up in the calendar who would appreciate your courtesy. Added on November 30: The Office of Admissions will be open between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM Eastern Time. We are conducting interviews tomorrow, so we would strongly urge you to communicate with the Office through the dentadmit@case.edu email address only. All previously interviewed candidates should be notified before 10:00 AM ET by an email from the Office of Admissions, and a change on your AADSAS status by noon ET. Outcomes include offer, continued review, hold, and reject. (I do not control anything related to anything currently posted on AADSAS, so I cannot comment on whether your temporary status is related to a decision. And I wouldn't comment anyway.) Letters are being mailed today to all candidates who have been offered a seat in our upcoming DMD class (entering 2012/intended professional graduation 2016). Good luck to all of you. If you want some distractions, go to the Admissions CWRU School of Dental Medicine Facebook and Google+ pages. P.S. If you really cannot believe you received a communication from us and feel compelled to call us, when dialing our number at (216) 368-2460, please have your AADSAS or DENTPIN number handy. We may not be able to answer the phone, but we will remind you of everything listed above. If you received an e-card, make sure you listen to the voice message. It took a lot of effort. :) ll REVOFEV ll 11-30-2011, 09:13 PM Email from CASE!!!!!! I was so disappointed when I found out that I hadn't received a e-card.. But this morning, I got an email saying that I was accepted :) This is my top choice and I'd most likely attend!!! CONGRATS to everyone :) This is why we double-check. Make sure you check your junk mail??? (Maybe the email bounced?) No offense intended if you didn't get the card. Dentdoctor 12-01-2011, 05:39 PM Is case not accepting Canadians anymore? Myself as well as a bunch of Canadian friends of mine had early interviews, and were given good vibes in the interview and told that they had a good chance of getting in, yet today got "On Hold" which case pretty much defined as a rejection. ecft07 12-01-2011, 05:51 PM Okay so did anyone NOT get any news from Case today? My status is still "invited for interview"...this is so weird... casedentalmed 12-01-2011, 11:53 PM Is case not accepting Canadians anymore?... I know offers were extended to Canadians. I also know that there are still a number of e-cards that were not opened on December 1 so it's possible that many of you may have missed the link in your email boxes. Facebook group link (https://www.facebook.com/groups/300151773350276/). casedentalmed 12-02-2011, 01:31 AM Also, you were not the only ones who received eCards. Another eCard (http://www.americangreetings.com/ecards/view.pd?i=549006978&m=2598&source=ag992) was sent to prehealth advisors who mentored applicants who were given an offer of acceptance on December 1. thesecret08 12-03-2011, 05:55 AM Congrats to everyone that got in!!!!!!!! I can't wait to start! Can someone please direct me to where I can get the "New Student Information Request form" that must go along with the $1000 deposit? The acceptance letter has a link that is not working. I looked everywhere in the website and could not find it. Can someone post the link, please? Thanks! casedentalmed 12-03-2011, 08:48 AM Can someone please direct me to where I can get the "New Student Information Request form" that must go along with the $1000 deposit? The acceptance letter has a link that is not working. I looked everywhere in the website and could not find it. Can someone post the link, please? Thanks! The New Student Information Form is being mailed to you and needs to be returned with your deposit. (We need your SSN, so we can't take the risk of transmitting it over email.) Maybe in the future we'll have a PDF form that I can make it possible to email attach it to you, but we need it printed, signed (?), and returned to us. casedentalmed 12-03-2011, 08:49 AM For comparison's sake, here was last year's CWRU SODM c/o 2015 acceptance (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=779061) thread. Maybe read through it to answer questions you have with this year's D1's who have SDN accounts. casedentalmed 01-20-2012, 05:48 AM Next round of offers has gone out on email, including e-cards. In the process of US mailing the documents to you by Monday. Deadline is February 15 to return the non-refundable deposit and the new student information form. (Hopefully Canadian mail will still get the mail to you on time.) All possibilities for communication are in play (accept, continuing review, hold, reject), but everyone interviewed up until January 11? should be notified. We still have openings. It appears that almost all of our interview spots are taken so it is unlikely we will be issuing more invitations. Please contact me etchuck@case.edu if you have any updates to what you submitted in AADSAS, though again it is difficult to say we will be able to invite more candidates. Consequently, if you are currently holding an interview spot but do not intend to travel here, please contact the admissions office at dentadmit so that we can loosen up some spots and be able to invite more people. We are seeing a few people drop their interview spots without letting us know, meaning that quite a few other people who may be worthy of an interview are losing their chances to. Next round of offers will be sent out in late February to early March. frenchy20 02-03-2012, 10:46 AM I am interviewing in March and I really hope there are still seats available! kumack 02-06-2012, 09:58 AM Congrats everyone on getting in to Case! Duriel 02-06-2012, 11:39 AM Congrats everyone on getting in to Case! I have my interview coming up at the end of next month and I was hoping to get some pointers! This is my first interview so I'm pretty nervous! Thanks The best advice for interviews sounds pretty lame, but it is so true. Be yourself. They aren't trying to trick you with questions. My interview at Case was pretty straight forward and relaxed. Good luck  casedentalmed 02-21-2012, 06:29 AM The next round of offers is being sent out, as well as decisions on continuing review, hold, and reject. Offers are sent both by email and regular mail. The deadline is March 23, 2012. Donfernando07 02-21-2012, 11:19 AM I called the admissions office a couple of hours ago and was told that I've been accepted. It is my first acceptance so I am pretty stoked. They told me to wait til tomorrow for the email. I advise just to wait, and not to call the office. Just keep our fingers crossed. Dentdoctor 02-21-2012, 12:42 PM The next round of offers is being sent out, as well as decisions on continuing review, hold, and reject. Offers are sent both by email and regular mail. The deadline is March 23, 2012. This school continues to amaze me. The amount of interviews it sends out is waaay too much. Normally, you would be excited by an interview invite but in some cases here, you could be invited, have an amazing interview and still not be put in the class. I don't quite understand this. People spend a lot of money flying out to these interviews and staying in hotels, etc., and it seems like a waste of money when for some people, it seems pretty much decided prior to the interview that you're not getting in. I'm not sure if this was like that in the past, but this needs to change. Further review needs to be done prior to the interview for the sake of the applicant to make sure that the interviewee has a chance of getting in or else why bother inviting the applicant to an interview in the first place!!!??? Lastly, just reject the applicant, don't put them on hold or continuing review unless they have a legitimate chance of getting in... Just received the official email. qkchen 02-21-2012, 06:47 PM I also received the acceptance email, but not the e-card. Or maybe I'll have to wait until tomorrow for that. Congratulations to all on their acceptances and hope to meet you all in autumn! frenchy20 02-22-2012, 01:59 PM I really want to attend Case. Do any of you know how many interviews have already been held? mine is next week ! Can't help with you how many interviews were given out, but when I interviewed in mid-February, I was informed that a third of the class was filled. Good luck on your interview next week. My visit at Case was really awesome and I hope you enjoy yours as well. Hydeus 02-23-2012, 09:15 PM When will the admission committee meet next? I had my interview a few days ago and I am very anxious to hear back from Case. Kronennj 02-27-2012, 02:32 PM Just got my acceptance letter! Can't wait to start up in August! casedentalmed 02-28-2012, 04:53 AM I posted this as a separate thread (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=892891), but this reception may be of interest to anyone who is considering an application to CWRU and want to know what it takes for a competitive application. RSVP deadline is March 19 (or as instructed on the PDF invitation). Baylorbear00087 03-30-2012, 09:29 AM Did anyone have any early March (5-8) interviews? I'm hoping I get an e-Card frenchy20 03-30-2012, 10:54 AM I did. I am also hoping the same. They haven't sent out a new round of offers yet, hopefully next week. I'll be looking out with the eyes of faith! frenchy20 03-30-2012, 12:03 PM i know lol it really is the worst part :/ let me know if you hear back soon casedentalmed 03-30-2012, 12:17 PM I wanted to let you all know, I expect that we will begin the notification for offers for this round to occur early next week, likely Tuesday or Wednesday. We also have to report to ADEA the people who have deposited with us so it's going to take a little time to get everything in. Also, our admissions committee has made decisions on many of the incoming high school students who have applied through our articulation early selection programs (though we know there are still some interviews we have yet to schedule). We anticipate mailing out these decisions on Monday. Baylorbear00087 03-30-2012, 09:55 PM :xf: casedentalmed 04-02-2012, 02:20 PM Communications are being sent out by email for those with offers, with followup mailed packets. HOPE is like waiting to open your christmas presents LOL casedentalmed 04-04-2012, 03:32 AM Interviews continue until early May, after which we will have one final committee meeting for the cycle for file review. We will see at that time whether we will be issuing offers or begin sending invitations to our alternate list. Toothfreak 04-04-2012, 06:44 AM on facebook there are 55 students in the group already… not many seats left i assume. Toothfreak 04-04-2012, 04:44 PM No i havent received anything yet. Do you guys know if the committee picks people from the under review first and then the wait list, or the other way around? SayAahhh 04-05-2012, 08:16 PM Hey guys! I have an interivew coming up in May. If any of you decide not to attend your interview this month, can you let me know so I can schedule an earlier one? Thanks! :) kumack 04-06-2012, 07:23 PM Does anybody know where the new student form is?? See you guys in July! Toothfreak 04-06-2012, 07:55 PM this is what Dr. Chuck said on page 1 about the student forms: "The New Student Information Form is being mailed to you and needs to be returned with your deposit. (We need your SSN, so we can't take the risk of transmitting it over email.) Maybe in the future we'll have a PDF form that I can make it possible to email attach it to you, but we need it printed, signed (?), and returned to us." congrats btw.. hopefully ill be joining you guys blackjonnik 04-08-2012, 03:46 PM Interviews continue until early May, after which we will have one final committee meeting for the cycle for file review. We will see at that time whether we will be issuing offers or begin sending invitations to our alternate list. I was wondering, since I am still under review, after May when Case sends out the last offer and if I don't receive an offer, do I get an invitation for the waitlist or is a rejection letter still possible? The way I read it, if after May and the class is not filled, everyone who is still under review will at least get an offer; and if the class is still not filled, they go to the waitlist. Can anyone clarify what it means to be under review at this moment. Toothfreak 04-09-2012, 08:36 AM im wondering that as well.. i wonder if they will pick the under review people first and then start picking from the wait list.. its not clear. casedentalmed 04-09-2012, 08:41 AM When we establish an alternate list, the under review group will be first considered, followed by the hold list. kumack 04-09-2012, 06:56 PM Looking forward to meeting everyone! You should join the Case dental class of 2016 facebook group and come meet the future classmates. There's a lot of activity with ppl asking similar questions like yours. I used to live in Toronto also so adjusting to Cleveland shouldn't be too much of a barrier. kumack 04-11-2012, 05:24 AM I can't find the group online! The deadline is in early May (3rd). casedentalmed 05-05-2012, 06:42 AM Our final round of offers should be expected around Friday next week (May 11). At that time we will also be inviting those under continued review of your interest to be part of the alternate list. DocHolliday1982 05-10-2012, 02:28 PM Just got my wait list e-mail... Anyone know how much this list moves? Looks like 8 based on last year's thread (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=779061&page=5) But like anything we learn from SDN (not the adcom itself) take it with a grain of salt.... casedentalmed 05-11-2012, 08:03 AM Offers of admission and participation for the alternate/wait list were sent out Thursday evening to Friday morning, and mailed packets for those offered admission will likely go out today or Monday. The deadline for non-refundable deposits for those offered seats in the entering class is Tuesday, May 29. In addition, the deposit deadline for participation in our alternate list is also Tuesday, May 29; the deposit becomes non-refundable if the candidate on the alternate list accepts an offer of admission that becomes available. It is too difficult to predict how many people from our alternate list will be taken into the incoming class since it depends on decisions by current commitments and others who are on our continued review and hold lists who wish to participate. If you are offered a spot in the class, it may be good to contact our office of admissions at dentadmit @ case . edu or call our secretaries so that we can expect your check. It also can help give us a better idea of the movement of the alternate list. If you are offered an opportunity to be placed on the alternate list, reply to Brian so that we get an idea of how many of you will also be sending in your check and give us a better idea of the size of the alternate list. You are strongly encouraged to include a cover letter with updated contact information (mail, email, and phone) in case we need to contact you. Do not lose the opportunity to get a spot in the class because of this oversight. All deposits should be in the amount of $1,000 US in the form of certified checks payable to Case Western Reserve University or CWRU School of Dental Medicine. Please make sure to deliver the check to the Office of Admissions, Case School of Dental Medicine, and we encourage you to use delivery confirmation in case you are worried about checks not being received to us. The earliest we would likely give you a sense of where alternates are grouped would be on June 1 so email the Office of Admissions at that time. We also suggest that if you are an alternate that you can wait to submit a new AADSAS until late June/July 4, but let us know when you submit your application. burgh2011 05-11-2012, 11:42 PM What does this mean? You should have gotten an email after you interviewed noting your status. If you never received an interview, then for all intents and purposes now, your file was rejected. giocolib 05-14-2012, 01:34 PM I received an alternate list offer last Thursday and my AADSAS status is now "Wait Listed". Is that the same as continued review? "Continued review" only applies if we have seats available while interviews are proceeding, but getting "wait listed" should mean that we are inviting you to be on the alternate list pending receipt of your deposit. I'll have to verify with my staff. disco99 05-14-2012, 05:04 PM how many people do you anticipate to be moved from "wait listed" to accepted? I sent a regular check. casedentalmed 05-29-2012, 05:34 PM The Admissions Committee will be meeting soon to go over the alternate list and providing final input on prioritizing the list. We hope to give an indication of where one is on the waitlist soon. giocolib 05-31-2012, 11:20 AM I was informed that there are 46 people on the alternate list. I wonder how many people can get off the list and do people in the mid or lower third have the chance of getting in? casedentalmed 05-31-2012, 11:30 AM No way of knowing until I get a sense of who might drop out who is already in the class. casedentalmed 06-01-2012, 06:34 AM Reminder: our open webchat hour "Countdown to AADSAS 2013 (https://connect.case.edu/dentadmit13)" is tomorrow at 5pm ET. Webcamera participation is desired, and this is free to all. As background or to prepare your application, view last year's presentation (http://goo.gl/QRTXP) before coming to the webchat (Windows browsers with Adobe Flash only). giocolib 06-01-2012, 02:08 PM Is this webchat tomorrow as in Saturday 5pm or Friday 5pm? I just signed on at 5:04pm ET and the adobe webchat says the meeting is not available. It shouldn't end this soon right? casedentalmed 06-02-2012, 03:52 PM The just-completed webchat is now available (http://goo.gl/zDpXK) for viewing. Sayahhhhh 06-07-2012, 07:04 AM I was informed that there are 46 people on the alternate list. I wonder how many people can get off the list and do people in the mid or lower third have the chance of getting in? When I called again yesterday there were still 45 people on the list... it doesn't seem to be moving much. Yikes. Toothfreak 06-17-2012, 08:12 PM very bummed i am in the lower third of the list. blackjonnik 06-18-2012, 04:59 PM yeah, being at the bottom 3rd, I doubt the list will get that far. too many people. xainabaz 06-19-2012, 06:04 PM Dear class of 2012, I am applying to CASE for the class of FALL 2013, as your junior. Please tell me what you like about CASE, the city and the environment, the faculty-student relationships, costs, and if you like the Cleveland. Please also list what you like best about CASE dental and what you think needs improvement? Thank you so much! :) casedentalmed 06-20-2012, 05:01 AM Dear class of 2012, I am applying to CASE for the class of FALL 2013, as your junior. A lot of your basic questions are already covered in the ADEA Guide to Dental Schools, and you can get a sense of our environment from the videos that will be posted there. User8088 07-06-2012, 08:13 AM Has there been any movement on the alternate list? casedentalmed 07-06-2012, 12:46 PM Has there been any movement on the alternate list? To be fair to everyone: There has been a little bit of movement, but only 5 people have come off the list. This doesn't mean someone else won't drop soon, but I wanted to be fair to those of you still on the list, especially since we're down to 3 weeks before the first day of orientation. If you are on the list and are applying to us, please let us know as soon as you have submitted. Sayahhhhh 07-11-2012, 09:18 AM 41 students on the alternate list the last time I called. Thank you. casedentalmed 07-21-2012, 09:56 AM July 30 is orientation. I have been told that in the past we have taken someone off the list after orientation, but I would not consider that a regular occurrence. Plus many other schools have already had orientation or will this week. |
