So I was wondering when would be good time to email the PD of my number one and tell him that emphasize that I really want to go there? Can I say "you are my top choice" or does that sound too desparate?

My plan is to email the PD of my top 5 programs and tell them that I really enjoyed the program and would like to be there? Is there anything wrong with this? Is there something different I should be saying to the PD of my #1 choice vs the top 5?

Let me know what you guys think. I haven't emailed or called anyone yet but seems like everyone is starting to do that...

The sooner, the better--many programs are putting together their own rank lists now, or will be very soon! There is a decent discussion in the ERAS forum on this topic (including what to say to programs #2-5), from Match participants current and past.
