If I understand this correctly, I need form 157a for the visa and only once I am actually in the course I can use the form 157p in order to be allowed to work. Anything else I should know about this whole process?? Does it take long to get the work part added on??? Is a new visa required each year or can you extend the intial visa for the full 4 years?

The work visa is literally while you wait. I think it costs about $55 now. The visa is valid for the full period of time that you are in Australia.

The only problem you may have is if your passport expires before the 4 years is up.
