Okay, if this sounds ignorant, please forgive me. I am a M1 interetsed in rad-onc. I read in Anita Taylor's book that some rad on docs find it difficult to really get to know a patient and watch them die. do a veyr high percentage of your patients die and how do you deal with this with out becoming callous?
Thanks!

it was harder as an intern on the IM floors where people are acute and die there. About 60% of patients are "curative". It can be difficult but still rewarding. We give them more time and more quality of life.
