hello eye docs, is it bad to watch tv up too close? ~3-4ft away from 36" tv.. my tv is right next to the computer...

No. As noted in the AAO's book for med students, "Children with normal sight commonly want to sit close to the tv set, just as they want to get close to reading material. This will not harm their eyes. All individuals will hold reading material or watch television at a distance that is comfortable to them." It may lead to eye strain (aka ocular muscle tiredness) or headache but it would damage your eyes no more than it would damage a video camera to record material from such a short distance.

The same is true for reading in dim light (a favorite belief of my mom) or wearing another person's glasses.
