Having read this message board for a while, I have noticed that many people who post seem to have a negative attitude towards this program. If anything, I would think that people would feel privileged about working at a Harvard-affiliated hospital.

Most of the BS on here about BIDMC is propogated by a few students who are going based on hearsay at their schools. I think it is considered less prestigious than BWH and MGH and therefore not as highly regarded by students at top 25 schools. I personally would love to do my residency there as most of the physicians I've met who trained at and/or worked at the BI are great people and doctors. Plus it's right near my apt. and I could walk to work every day. I did a primary care selective with an internist at one of BIDMC's group offices in Brookline during my second year and he is one of the best docs I have ever met. Oh yeah, The House of God (based on the BI) is a pretty good source for "BIDMC is awful" rumors as well, apparently no one noticed that Shem wrote the book before 1978.:D I'm personally glad that some of the more competitive candidates seem to want to avoid BIDMC; improves the chances of an imperfect soul such as myself.:)

I have worked with residents and interns from the bidmc, and found them to be excellent.
