Here's a question for everyone: To attend U of Syd we had to purchase Overseas Student Health Coverage, which I assume started at the beginning of this year. Now, I don't leave until the end of this month to go to Australia, but am I covered by that insurance while still in the US? I thought of this when I scheduled my appt. to get my med. exam for the visa and they asked if I have any health coverage which would greatly decrease the cost of the exam.

The health insurance you purchase is sort of like the Australian health care system, it gives you acccess to GP visits and things like that so it might help within AUstralia. It does not cover you for medical care outside Australia. i hope this helps.
