Here's a question you probably haven't heard before:

In addition to being an overworked and undersleeped med student, I am also a fair programmer, and am thinking about developing something for Palm (during my upcoming 4th year--I can probably get a 4 week research elective from my school to do it).

Since I'm interested in ophthalmology, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a useful database or application have on the Palm for budding ophthos.

I've gotten several good ideas from my fellow students, but they've all been in other specialty areas (OB, infectious dz, etc).

So if you've ever thought, "Gee, I just wish I had ______ at my fingertips..." then share, perhaps it will generate some input.

How about creating a database of dictations for standard ophthalmological procedures?

Hmmm... sort of like a Maxwell guide, but with templates for common ophtho procedures? Interesting.

Of course, I'd have to work with someone who actually knew how to do such dictations, as my experience is pretty limited. Any volunteers? I'd dig around at my own school, but we don't even have any ophtho faculty, let alone a program.

Any other ideas also appreciated.
