Today was a very beautiful sunny day. we had a long working day at the clinic. The patients for today were all over 10 years old so everything was quiet and calm.

After seeing three patients, a woman came. I have seen her before but this time she comes with tears in her eyes. I immediatly thought it has to do with a tooth but usually you will see a hand in the pain area and I did not see that.

I asked her if everything was allright and she shared with us the incidents at her home. Her husband is an alcoholic and he hits her and her children. I am sitting there, listening at her and differente things come throught my mind. How could she live like that, with a man who hurts her? Are there any people out there to help those woman or why do the police do not do anything? That is very frustrating.

She shows me her legs, all with bruises, that hurts me more. Sometimes I wish this woman knows tae bo an show her husband how to treat her right! We continue talking about other things, she does not look too tense and smile at some jokes Juliana( the assitent) made.

I think I am getting used to listen these kind of stories, but I am glad I am able to fix their teeth, relieve their pain and probably share with them that God loves them and that He can change hearts too.

Goodnight

I can completely relate to your experience. Two summers ago, i had a very similar experience. I met a battered woman, who was nearly killed by her husband. It is sometimes unbelievable to see how a man will inflict so much physical abuse to another human being. I mean, you should have seen her. Her entire body was covered with contusions.

I appreciate your patience and empathy. Sometimes the best remedy is to just be there to listen. (btw we took some legal actions afterwards) but nonetheless, just listening and showing that you care can do so much. Little did she know, this experience impacted me more than it did her...anyway...i'll stop rambling. God does change hearts, and i was glad to see that her heart was changed and chose to stay away from him.

    Hey
She did not notifed the authorities, her 10 year old son did. They went to their house when she was there and arrested her husband Unfortunantly things are very different here in my country. Her husband is out and nothing happened..
