Does the reference letter we get from an MD have to be one we have known only through volunteering or shadowing, or can it be one who knows us personally? I'm asking because although i've shadowed docs and volunteered in hospital settings I wouldn't be anywhere near comfortable to ask them for a LOR. I've known an MD who's been a bit of a family friend for at least 5 years now and he would be able to provide a much better letter, but I don't know if that's not allowed.

So I am a reapplicant, who applied last round with a 3.9 Gpa and a 22Q Mcat (6,8,8) and received no interviews, big mistake. I have been self studying for the Mcat and have been scoring 26-28 range on the AAMC's. I got my score back yesterday and I received a 24Q, (9,6,9). Which is perplexing because I was scoring in the 9, and 10's on verbal. So I've exhausted all of my AAMC tests, and am wondering what I should use to prepare for the third retake this summer, I am planning on actually using Kaplan or Princeton Review online course, for their online resources. Any ideas on how I should prepare and approach the exam for this time?

Hello everyone. I have researched this forum to get a solid answer for what consititutes Academic Enrichment Program, but I am still confused about it.

AADSAS says that it would include "special research experiences," and I wonder what this exactly means. I have few research experiences so far, and I attended for three-day annual meeting/conference that presented the poster of one of the researches that I worked for. I was a co-author of the poster and paper, but did pretty much nothing during the conference (just merely attending).

Would this be considered as a "special research experiences" that I can write down under this section?

Thanks in advance for any helps!

I've just graduated from college this semester and I plan to take 2yrs working and getting prereqs together before applying, so at that time I guess I would be non-trad. My dilemma is that I transferred after my sophomore year to the college where I just graduated. Where I did my first 2 yrs, I had a pretty decent over 3.5 gpa, but where I did my last 2 yrs I had an overall under 3.0 due to juggling some changes in my personal life (upward trend present). At this college that awarded me my bachelors, you must have an over 3.0 gpa to be recommended by the pre-med committee. I haven't applied yet, but I know they won't recommend me since my gpa from their school is under 3.0, yet my overall gpa combining all four years is over 3.0, so technically had I done 4 years there, they would be recommending me. My questions are, as a non-trad in 2 yrs, would i still need a committee letter? I already know I might have difficulty getting LORs at that time and I doubt anyone back there would remember me anyways. Also when I submit to AMCAS/AACOMAS my gpa will come out over 3.0, so will it look bad if don't submit a committee letter as a non-trad?
