Hi all,
I did a search on this topic but the only one I found was for the new full of error FA organ system/basic science books.

I'm looking for a all in 1 to 2 books to cover the 1st 2 yr courses. I'll purchase a UW question bank next year.

Are there any other books than the FA ones I mentioned? I have the traditional FA book which everyone uses. But, I feel it doesn't explain the concepts in depth which may require me to go back to my books..... I'm looking for a book or two that has all the explanations included in them.

Thanks.

PS. If there are none, are the new FA basic science ones that bad?

I had never heard of this before.

If you do this, would you sign Sincerely, XXX and then put the handwritten note below that without signing again?

Would you sign twice?

This may be a stupid question, but I don't want to do this incorrectly (if there's a correct way).

Thanks, and good luck to everyone.

I have been doing the EK Verbal 101. So far I have done four 1 HR tests under timed conditions with no prior practice. My test scores are:
10, 8, 11, 11.

Are these good scores to start out with? I'm not sure how the difficulty of these passages compares to the real MCAT. Usually when I review the answers, I almost always understand why I got the question wrong. I have about 4 more months of studying hardcore until I take the MCAT with a lot of time devoted just to verbal and I am wondering if I should expect to see some score increases if I keep working at these passages. Have people seen major improvement or just pretty much consistent scores regardless of practice.

In addition to EK, I have the Berkeley Review Verbal book.

I don't mean to sound bitter but this is just the fantastic piece of information I had to receive as I am applying to a lot of schools, just paid a $65 app fee and am basically going into debt as a result of my application process

Just thought I'd let other people wallow with me, lol. Nevertheless, good luck all I/O applicants. It's a great field and I'm sure you're all worth it :D

Hi guys, I have something to ask.

Today I was @ my doc because of a folliculitis that's been killing me recently. I went in, everything normal, but then, when I went to see my doc, he was like: What do you want?(In a very depressed way.) I didn't dare to ask if something was wrong, but anyway, I considered that I as a patient should not be treated this way. I almost diagnosed myself(I told him what I thought was needed to relieve it), as if, I was using him not to get advice but to get the prescription with his name on it so I could go get the medication. He didn't even checked if anything else was wrong, or something else he could do for me, etc.

Now my question, why are so many physicians so sad and depressed? My uncle is in internal medicine and he is also the same way. I remember when I was a little kid and I went to his office, he was so happy everytime. Now you can see him so "gray". I know a lot of doctors in many specialties and when they're young they are full of life, when they are experienced they look like if crazy to end their years and retire.

Is medicine worth it as a career? I DO NOT want to end like them. I want to end (not fairy tale happy) but happy nonetheless. I know there are problems but a person should not carry so much weight around (figuratively lol).

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think not everyone has a "suited" personality for medicine. It takes a kind of person (I've seen some physicians, experienced ones, that still are excited to get up and serve people like they're supposed to.).

I applied to LSU-New Orleans and UT-Houston dental schools this fall (1st time applicant. I would classify myself a competitive app and finsihed my secondary for LSU 2 weeks ago, interview invite last week and the big day is December 11th. Houston as yet updated me on my status since I received the verification email regrading that my app has been received (early October).

Please choose why you believe Houston has not invited me for an interview yet and please tell me what you feel will be the outcome:

A.) I am a non-Texas resident with primary residency in LA (even though one of there admission officers at UTDB said that 10% of the seats are reserved for out of state students and with 80 D1's in each class that means there are 8 seats availible)

B.) My DAT is too low (20 AA, 18 TS, 16 PAT:meanie:)

C.) I am an underrep minority (black male)

D.) UTDB-Houston is just flat out hard, competitive dental school to be admitted into

E.) None of the above (explaination please)

I really appriciate yall's feedback,
