I apologize for making a similar thread in my previous one but I really need to get an answer. I don't have time to take genetics and physiology since I'm already taking 18 credits next semester. Is TBR and EK bio books (along with EK 1001 bio and TPR hyperlearning science wkbk) enough for me to review genetics and physiology for MCAT?
If not, should I just buy a genetics and physiology textbook and just read it on my own without taking a class?

Thanks.. and again sorry for creating a similar thread, I just thought this one would point out my main question.

...how did you do on your first two diagnostics? I just took my second diagnostic and I'm pretty disappointed with my score. I took the first diagnostic almost one month ago, exactly. My scores did not improve much at all in that time. (In fact only 2+ points. One pt increases in BS and VR. PS is still in the s***ter.)

I know I need to lay into PS much harder, but Physics and GChem are not my strong suits, and I expected to struggle with PS. I'm scoring the highest in my VR, which I already knew would happen and BS is staying a smidge below VR and way above PS, which I also expected.

(For what its worth, I'm a weirdo. I have a degree in Bio and a minor in more of a "humanties" field, but I've always been more of a reading/writing type. I took the GRE and totally scored opposite what was expected of a Bio major. Did far, far better in verbal than quant, and the same trend is holding true with my MCAT exams. Scoring higher in VR than anything else. LOL...yay?)

Along with physical chemistry and biochemistry (in my semester of mcat), I'm looking for a biology class to add up to my schedule. So far I've taken molecular cell biology and biotechnology as my upper level bio classes. I can't decide between physiology or genetics. I've been reading old threads and majority of the people said physiology helped the most. However, there were a couple people that said they had 3-4 passages of genetics in their mcat. I'm a chemistry major and I don't need to take any of these classes. So I just need to choose the right one that will help me in mcat. I'm going to study TBR bio and EK bio and also use EK 1001 and TPR Hyperlearning science workbook to review for the biology section.

So what would you do if you were in my situation? Should I take either of the classes or are those books enough for me to review everything I need for physio and genetics?

Thanks:)

I was thinking about it and thought maybe people who do well in verbal simply "see it". Like some of us just see numbers well and can multiply and stuff quickly in our heads , maybe people who succeed on verbal just have soem innate skill. I am basing this off of the fact that I know a lot of people that do not study verbal and get 10-13's on the MCAT.

At the same time Ive heard of some people making crazy improvements by technique.

so I wonder maybe its a little of both

I know they expire after 45 days or until the test day comes up (whichever comes first). Should I purchase them in mid-December? Two weeks would be enough time for them to receive my money order/process my order and e-mail me the access info, right?

Thanks!

Ok, I decided on a study plan (with a few people's help). Let me know what you think.

1)Take TPRH class beginning January 17 (was gonna do SN2ed's plan, but I have a little more time, 5 months, and this class is 4 months, ending 1 month before my test date). So, I can just keep up with the class' schedule, and if I don't like it, I'll ditch it. Class comes with hyperlearning verbal workbook and science workbook for good practice.

2)Buy EK101 for verbal.

3)Buy all TBR books (except verbal) for different perspective on the content (I can see which one I like more between this and TPR), and more practice passages.

4)Throughout the 4 month class, take all 9 TPRH full length exams.

5)Last month, take all the AAMC FL + finish any problems I have left over from my books + maybe buy TBR FL (I think this would be overkill at this point). This is where I'll try to use SN2ed's plan... I like how he sets up the last month.

6)Take exam May27.

My goal is to get 35+.

What do you guys think?

So I took the Sep 10th MCAT and scored a 7 in verbal. Which to be quite honest I was expecting becus I did not study much for it (Big mistake) . But what worries me is that I scored 9 in PS and 10 in BS. ....& that really puzzles me. Honestly I studied atleast 5 Months solid for MCAT (basically sciences)Did most of the TBR/TPR /Kaplan Practice/ passages(timed) / logging mistakes /post game analysis...and never scored higher than 11 in any of the 14 FL'S I took.... I was consistently 10/11 in sciences...almost 50 days prior to exam...but then It just stayed there!

Now If you are beginning to think I might be dumb/or just cram ...then I will only say that I have overall GPA 4 and I usually study conceptually. I really dont know what to do differently with sciences this time around :scared: ....Any insight will be appreciated.
