Wednesday night brought an interview invite from SOMA, but with the qualifier that, at this point, they are only interviewing for the "pending a seat" category. I figure I will make the drive and [hopefully, please, please!] at least get accepted pending a seat with a guarantee for next year. We'll see what happens. Not looking forward to the long drive but I'll survive, ha. Congratulations to all those who have made it in! I don't know much about SOMA but I interviewed at KCOM and loved it, so I think I'll like the feel of SOMA as well.

I'll be interviewing here next week so I can fill you in on what we are told. When I got my invite there was no mention of all the seats being filled but my guess is they have a certain number the are holding open and I'm certain by late April there should be movement.

It only takes one yes for you to become a doctor, congrats!

has anybody heard about the alternate list recently? I was placed in the high alternate list in the beginning of the cycle. thanks!

Hey so how did most people get their interview invites??? Was it through snail mail or a call? I think they just mailed out something to me which has me thinking that I was rejected.

how'd you hear from them regarding the invite???

It was an email invite

so the letter they mailed me must be a rejection....ouch!

I'm afraid to say that March 23rd may be the last interview date. I'll inform you by the end of the week.

I think there is another interview day on May 4th, according to the interview calendar. NJMed might know more than me though.

Yes they have added an extra interview day. Hopefully this means there will be spots available for the incoming class for the march 23 interview. :)

That is only what I heard a while back when I spoke to admissions. It may have changed, so I will ask when I'm there.

As of today, there is one additional date for interviews after this week. End of April!

Could one of the current students possibly give some insight on the Ohio chc and the possibilities of matching to the one of your choice if you have ties to the area?

Ok, I wouldn't imagine that many more however I don't think they would entirely waste their time interviewing if there weren't at least a few.

Also, who else will be interviewing Friday or going to the social Thursday?

Their color choices might not have been the best. I was in Group 1 (teal).

Lol turquoise and teal are definitely the same color.

Agreed, maybe having two different main colors with different shades should have been given more thought.

I interviewed 3/23 and just got the call today! First acceptance, so there were lots of tears of happiness :-) But I'm posting this b/c I honestly went into the interview thinking all the seats were taken after reading through the forum, but apparently they aren't full yet. Good luck everyone!

I thought I'd drop in and let everyone know what they told me when I interviewed on 3/23. One of the admissions ladies told me there were 10 open seats. She said the interviewers would pick their top choices from that date and review them first for the 10 open spots. After that they would proceed to go through the rest of the candidates and either offer pending acceptance, alternate or rejection. They also said it could take anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks to get through everyone and that they usually meet on Tuesday's. That being said, I'm led to believe that those being offered seats immediately were called yesterday or in the next couple of days. The waiting game sucks! I wish the best of luck to everyone and hope we hear back sometime this week!

Congratulations! I interviewed on 2/17 and ended up on the alternate list. I emailed Joyce but she still hasn't gotten back to me.

How exactly does SOMA's alternate list work? I looked through the thread and it looks like people in October or so were being put on the alternate list. How exactly do they pick people off of this list? Do they go by date? How vital is this LOI?

Im just asking so many questions because Im worried I wont get in. I didnt have a large interview pool and SOMA is my best chance! I might try calling Joyce to see if I can get ahold of her that way.

I was in Group 3 Green. I'm really sorry if I started making people uptight! I'm sending good vibes to all of you, this process is TOUGH. And this is my second round of it as I had to withdraw applications last year. I'm also an older student, so I've been feeling the time crunch of going into my 30's not knowing when this would happen.

It isn't your fault people are uptight, just the stress of waiting. I was in group 1 (teal), so maybe they are going by shades of green first. I haven't heard yet but felt the interview went quite well. I am also non traditional and an acceptance here would be a relief.

I wonder if they give special consideration for reapplicants...

So I let go of my acceptance there a few weeks a go ... ok about a month ago! So good luck to whoever got it!!!

ATSU-SOMA was pretty awesome and the people there were amazing, and I really did love the atmosphere. For those of you waiting, stay optimistic.

Someone asked for accepted stats ... cGPA: 3.5 ? sGPA: 3.35 (disclosure: I did the majority of my core science requirements plus a few extra bio classes as a post-bac so my post-bac GPA was 3.8 ..... my initial sGPA was TERRIBLE so that combined with my post-bac ended at 3.35 so you can imagine how terrible it really was lol) ... and a 27P MCAT. Plus I had a lot of volunteer hours and shadowing ( and a kickass DO rec letter and Profs re letters). Make sure you're on top of your game when you apply.

LASTLY, do your RESEARCH! By this, I mean do your research on the school and tailor your responses accordingly. Obviously you're gonna have your core schpeel BUT you do need to tailor your responses to each individual school.
