Haha yeah. This is on all the vitamins, minerals, and proteins in the body, what they're involved in, deficiencies, metabolic rxns, blah blah blah. And they are so easy to confuse when you have to know them all. Bleh.

Yeah I am strangely good at coming up with mnemonics very quickly, but they are usually very strange and apparently come from the dirty side of my brain :meanie:.
Rarely can I share the ones I come up with :p

Breath. Alcohol. Chick flick.

It's a foolproof cure all, darling. You can do it! By the third cycle, I was ready to scream and bite the people in admissions the entire process but look- I did it on my third try! You can too!

I am so impatient. I want my official GRE scores now. That way I can get moving on a couple of supplementals. Why does it have to take 10-15 days?

Do you absolutely have to have the scores to start the supplementals? Or is this a procrastination thing?

Either way. It's July still. You got time! I didn't TAKE the GRE until the 24th of August my first year applying.

I finished the supplemental, it is just you have to mail everything in one big envelope. I need a photocopy of my GRE scores to put in that envelope.

I know I have time, but I feel like the supplementals that can be done, I want to finish and send off.

Abney 07-24-2012 12:10 PM

My motivation seems to be coming in small spurts. I need to get my butt in gear or I will be rushing at the end of September!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, so "get moving" means finish. I obviously procrastinate more than you.

The KSU supplemental is short, no essay questions. So it was easy to finish. I am procrastinating on writing, which I shouldn't

It went good I think. Not stellar. But as good as the situation (end of long workday for interviewer, etc) allowed. He was so not even worried about my grades, which was nice.

My app updated to "final review" on the portal this afternoon. So hopefully good news soon :xf::xf:

I was the complete opposite. HATED the CSU application. It made me look completely unqualified to apply. It is great if you spend most of your time outside of class working or volunteering and take a ton of credits per semester. It completely ignored the 10-20 hours/week I spent doing other activities and ignored the fact that my college forbid taking more than 4 full classes at a time.

Iowa is a good one to consider. Friendly to OOS & considers the whole package.

I would be very wary of applying to Western. The average vet is not paid enough to make paying those tuition prices with loan money a reasonable proposition.

PetPony 07-24-2012 05:56 PM

good luck, FTB!!! Really hoping the best for you!!! :luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck:

Isn't Penn tuition not a whole lot better?

IS not so much. probably 10k cheaper (a random guess off the top of my head).

futurehealervet 07-29-2012 02:53 PM

Ive been reading blogs suggested on the veterinary blogs thread and they are making me VERY nervous. The way they talk about all these medical techniques and terms. I make good grades and I think I can get into vet school but does anyone else feel like vet school itself sounds impossible. I am in DESPERATE need of reassurance, as pathetic as that may make me

Do you have any clinical experience? You pick things up--it's like being in a place where you don't speak the language. At first you struggle, but with time (and asking good questions) you start to get the hang of it. It's not impossible.

And vet school does sometimes sound impossible. I think it's normal to feel that way.

Oh definitely. I'm not really showing it, but I'm hard core freaking out. Although, that's also partially because I haven't bought everything I need yet. But I'm terrified. I've been flipping through my anatomy books and I'm just like  "S***, this is getting real!"

IS discount & merit scholarship made tuition about even with Wisconsin OOS. Cost of living made it a slightly more expensive option.

Of course if I have academic difficulty and lose my scholarship, I may kick myself for turning down UW.

But for now it's really fun being around my old friends and chilling with extended family.

Hi guys! I was wondering if anyone knew the date that I had to take the GRE for this application cycle. Do I have to take it in August or can I take it in the first week of September?

Depends on the schools to some extent. Check where you want to apply and that should do it.

I have two girls I study with, one in animal science with me and one in engineering. When we study together, in addition to dirty-minded mnemonics, us ANSC girls are discussing all of the lovely things from repro, anatomy, etc while our engineering friend sits there listening like :wow: Best part is, we're actually studying, so all of the dirty-minded things we're coming up with are completely appropriate! And she just remains in shock...love being an ANSC major :D

Six more days. Six more days. Kinda my mantra right now. That's how long until everyone gets back from vacation in the admissions office. And the earliest possible date I might hear anything.

I don't want to fill out the VMCAS again. I don't want to stay at my job which keeps treating me worse every day. And it's now 1st week at Western, so I didn't get off the wait list.

It takes 10-15 days for your results to be sent to your schools so check your school for their deadlines. University of Illinois wants your test done before August 31st but a lot of other schools had test result deadlines for the beginning of November.

Trying hard to be positive, yet not plan for acceptance so as not to jinx it. Three more days 'til I might have news. I'm realizing now that if the committee is getting back on Monday, that in no way means their bi-monthly meeting is on Monday. And it could be significantly longer and that would suck.
