Pharmacy Mgr Had Sex With Intern
They got together and even had a baby. Although it is their personal life and the poor mgr was probably thirsty for love, for some reason this just feels weird to me. Would this be considered a conflict of interest since the intern might be given special favor as the result of this relationship?
And sorry for those who entered this thread with a little extra anticipation, I don't have graphic details for you. |
Good for him?

I know from working at Walmart as an intern that the RPh's were not allowed to date/sex the techs/interns. I believe the policy was that if a relationship was starting to inform the DM and one of the parties would be transferred (not fired or anything). It's definitely not professional to sex up the interns, no matter how hot they are. |

what the problem is??

Move along folks, just another midlife crisis, nothing to see here, move along. :meanie:

If it were the military, it would be considered fraternization and both parties would be in trouble. While I don't think the civilian side should have as many laws/regulations/ways to get in trouble as the military, I do think this is a pretty good concept to carry over: don't get to know your students in that particular way.

If the person is in his 20s...no big deal.
If the person is in his 30s or 40s...it's a big deal. Because you are 40 years old nailing a 21 year old. Congrats, you're awesome. Pretty much all there is to it. |
I don't get why people care so much about who's banging who in today's society. It is none of your business.

We're all assuming here that this was a male manager and female intern. Might have been the other way around, ya know. :o

I am doing two rotations with a preceptor that happens to be my friend kinda. I am moving out of state for a little bit to do these rotations. He is really nice and we are good friends. He tells me about his love life, his hobbies, his sex life, his house, going dancing etc. He text me all the time. He even offer to let me live with him when I move out there...I decline as that would be somewhat weird IMO. haha....It's free rent, but I figure Iam most likely better off paying rent in this case.

I saw an episode of Taboo where the wife was three decades older than the husband. his wife was three years older than his mom. They've been happily married for 11 years.
SHC, you honestly believe it's the money???? c 'mon... And that guy seems like a creeper asking you to live with him and texting you all the time in addition to talking to you about his sex life.. |
It is ALWAYS inappropriate for someone in a supervisory position to have a sexual or personal relationship with a subordinate. The legal liability is staggering for you and your employer. It is not a relationship of equals. The Pharmacist has power over the career of the intern. If the pharmacist does not sign off on the hours, no license. It's wrong on just about every level.
If you fall in love, then one of you finds a new job or transfers to a different store/division/region or whatever. |

More power to the 40 year old, sure. But what the heck 21 year old? Can't find anybody your own age? Maybe they're trying to use this to leverage an advantage in the pharmacy? Who knows. |

:idea:I am surprised nobody has mentioned the biggest motivating factor for situations like this in all creatures of the animal kingdom, power. Definitely power draws the suitors before cash flow. This manager certainly had some of that.
With that said, I personally believe all ages are capable of finding reasons to become attracted to or interested in one another without it having to be traced back to gold digging, taking advantage for personal/professional gain, midlife crisis, or lack of self esteem or self worth. It could be curiosity, similar outlooks, or even opposites attracting. However, it's a guarantee that these always start solely by desire to bang the younger/older half. I agree about SHC's preceptor, a bit off. |

There isn't a problem with young men. The problem is that there are idiot women that don't realize that video games, porn, and hanging out with friends is a better option than getting married and having a serious relationship. "Relationships" are always tilted towards having more benefits for women. It's ingrained into American thought. Marriage itself is just a 50% chance of losing more than 50% of what you've earned as well as an almost guaranteed loss of custody of your children with the requirement of paying child support to a woman that now hates you...and she doesn't even have to keep records on what the child support went to. So your kids are now being raised by some deadbeat your wife ran off with and you are paying them hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars a month. But, hey, you get to see them every other weekend. Then you have the fact that the feminist movement went waaaaay too far. These women want to have careers, equal pay, all that good ****. And there's nothing wrong with that. But they still want the chivalry bull**** to go along with it inside of interpersonal sexual relationships. You expect to be treated like a queen and for men to buy you ****...make your Valentine's Day "special"...hold the door open...blah, blah, blah. NO! You don't get to have your cake and eat it, too. And an entire generation of young men have reached a point of disillusionment. What's the point of a serious relationship? Men get NOTHING out of it with the typical, American Gen Y woman. Unless they are old. Then it makes sense. Because they are desperate for a "real man" and way hotter than the 35-45 year olds they are usually stuck with. This also show the hypocrisy of American society. It's fine for women to redefine what it means to be a woman. But if a man does it, it's wrong. Men aren't allowed to redefine what it means to be a man. Men (heterosexuals, anyway) aren't allowed to weak pink, listen to Lady Gaga, or whatever. They have to be what they are told to be. Well, what if this generation of men want to do what THEY want to do? Women can redefine their gender roles but men can't? Ridiculous. So, to the women of Gen Y. It's not us, its you. Most of you typically just suck. You aren't worth it. I was lucky enough that I got one that is rational. For example, she thinks Valentine's Day is stupid and doesn't want children. If I bought her something for Valentine's Day she'd probably get pissed off at me for being a giant, whipped ***** AND for perpetuating an invented holiday. I'm the luckiest dude on the planet. Hell, she loves WVU athletics, too. She rode on a ****ty NJ Transit train to NYC (aka, the most overrated city on the planet) yesterday to watch my team lose. And she was just as pissed off as I was. I pity the rest of you saps. Going out on Valentine's Day. Buying a $50,000 wedding (I went to a courthouse). Most women treat their men like wage slaves. It's just the truth. |

You're very lucky to have found the woman you are with who doesn't value materialistic holidays like Valentine's Day. This Valentine's Day all I saw on Facebook was women who were displaying the gifts they got, and my thoughts were, "...So what did you get your guy?" In my opinion, Valentine's Day is just a way for men to get laid or get a blow*** so I wouldn't even get involved in all that BS. But back to the original topic, a man who messes with a younger woman could be one that has issues with talking to older women as most older women aren't as needy and dependent on men when compared to a younger woman. There could be the thought that younger women are easier to control. Most are right as they have everything to gain from being with an older man. He can buy her things she can't afford and that is attractive to younger women. When a man has money, he has the upper hand when dealing with younger women, but that comes with a price. A younger woman could never stay with an older man without exchanging his money for some type of gift... aka sex. No older man is dumb enough to spend money without getting something in return. I just remember that "Sugarbaby/Sugardaddy" episode on Mtv where younger women and men were dating older men or women, they always had to bring something to the relationship. There was no free ride. I just can't see someone that young in their 20s seriously wanting to be with someone in their late 30s or 40s... unless they had something financially to gain. It is possible for both parties to be in love, but I don't think that's likely as they wouldn't have much if anything in common. And God help him if she made sure he has some good life insurance... better watch for women like that in a relationship where she is much youner than the man  |

I have yet to see a poor older man marry a younger woman...the older person usually have money. The wife is rich right in this case? My preceptor is overly friendly....we were kinda friends before I decided to do 2 rotations with him.... He also ask me go to dancing with him when I move down there... Maybe he is just a friendly guy? |
Haaha i agree with everything Old Timer said in response to that! For a moment I was worried :)

LOL...I won't move in with him. Although it's always nice to get free rent. I haven't pay rent in a long time since I live with my relatives here in Atlanta.
Haha...I already told him I would only date people my own age. He then give tons of reasons why women should date older men, but I say Nah, I prefer wild party boys in their twenties! lol... so he knows I am just a friend and nothing else. Now, he just text me on occasions to talk about life. He is trying his best to find a girlfriend/wife. He is 45 yo. His wife of 20 years cheated on him and left him. He then dated a 26 yo bipolar chick...but she ended up dying. Then he told me he try dating other girls but none of them work out. His sex with the bipolar chick was the best! lol...etc. So now he is on eharmony and match.com looking for women, but has no luck. He LOVES to go dancing but can't ever find anyone to go with and he hates going alone. He also hates going to bed alone at night. haha... He is just lonely....I hope he does find a girlfriend soon. I never met anyone that tried harder. |
The only reason why I agree to move out of state and do my rotations on his site is b/c my ex lived in that state and I wanted to be close to him.
Now that our relationship ended I am stuck doing these rotations out of state. :( It would have been much cheaper and easier for me to do all my rotations in Atlanta. |

I'm not surprised. My girlfriend told me that she used to work for this pharmacist who always hit on her and was pretty much in love with her even though he was married. It seems to happen that everywhere she works, the guys hit on her. This worries me because this is a long distance relationship. I'm in New York City, she's in Dallas, Texas.
