She said "I think things might change for some of you once you meet the right person." I can understand that this could be a sensitive subject for some but I don't think the reactions were warranted. No one likes to feel like their life style choices are considered "temporary" or a "phase". But I really don't think psilovethomas meant it in a demeaning way. She also apologized so let's move on to some juicy confessions. :)

Then why say it in the first place? It is offensive, sorry, whether she 'meant it to be' or not. I don't care what you think about my reaction to it, either. If nobody calls her out on it, she isn't going to be aware that it is not really a kosher thing to say to people. So there.

bigkittinteef 04-24-2012 12:18 AM

"So there?" Wow. Well I don't see much point in discussing this further. Have a good night Nyanko.

twelvetigers 04-24-2012 12:34 AM

Alright, alright. I doubt she'll say it again, at least not on here. It's probably safe to move on... maybe...

I see a baby or child being painfully cute sometimes and my uterus will hurt - like the other day at Orange Leaf, there was a little girl ~8mo sitting on daddy's lap. She was happy and looking around and being a good little baby, and daddy was playing peekaboo and making her smile and being generally squishy. It made me think about what a good dad my husband would be.

And then I go, "No! Bad uterus!" *punch*

If the desires start to get the better of me, I just plan a trip to the zoo on a Saturday. Nothing is more obnoxious than kids at the zoo. Running around, throwing fits, yelling at the animals, tapping relentlessly on the glass... it's a good reminder that I have absolutely no patience for the crap kids do.

In a pinch, Wal-mart also works pretty well.

Thanks Twelvetigers.

Lol. My friend always jokes that children are the best form of birth control. I'm starting to believe there is some truth to it...

we have been babysitting my six year old for the past three days. Definitely the best form of birth control. I think if I see any small children this week I will go running in the opposite direction as fast as I can. On the fence about kids, mostly because dogs are so much more fun to me at this point in my life :D

On an unrelated note: you know you're addicted to SDN when this webpage starts starring in your dreams. That's right, I dreamed about SDN, and more importantly, what my "role" was going to be in the upcoming clue WW. I think I have a problem.

I confess: (and I blame this page) I am obsessed with Pinterest. I just love trolling through the things people pin. I now have three new folders in my favorites for things saved from Pinterest:o. I know I will never get to all of the crafts I have saved...but I love thinking that I will!

I wasn't the one who brought it up again.

Thread Police "Big Kittin Teef" decided that his/her opinion on mine and other people's opinions was really important to express.

Wait, you have things from Pinterest saved on your browser bookmarks? Never used Pinterest, but isn't half the point you can save things without having to bookmark them on your computer?
(Pot kettle, here, since I have about 800 articles saved in my bookmarks that I've thought at one point, "I should read that sometime.")

I guess I don't really know how to use it then. How do I access my own pins?

JOIN! it's super easy, you do have to "request an invite" but it takes about a day I think (might be faster now though?!) it's super fun because then you'll be able to "pin it" when you like something and it will save to your specific page! I'm completely addicted to it as well :D

Abney 04-24-2012 07:50 AM

I refuse to join Pinterest because I know myself and my addictive personality!! LOL

I hate makeup. It stresses me out. I'm pretty sure the makeup gene got crossed over to my baby brother sometime in the womb, as he can't ever play with enough of it.

Yeah I hate it too. And I'm actually rather good at it through all my years being on stage. But I pretty much leave it in the dressing room :ninja:
Although being blonde, I tend to need mascara every once in a while lol.

I love putting it on. I like trying new things. Though I only ever just do eye makeup. Full face is for fancy stuff and then it is a pain.

Mascara is my bff too! I have super long eyelashes, but they are blonde. So mascara makes me look normal. BTW LOVE your avatar for clue.

Blonde here too. And I have uber blonde eyebrows and eyelashes so those always get attention. But I don't wear face make-up because I love my freckers!!!

Emiloo4 04-24-2012 12:32 PM

Me 5 and still do. I  it. Veterinary school is my backup plan to broadway so I guess I have to give it up for a while now :(. It's a really tough decision to let it go, I was starting to go places... somehow I feel like vet school is the safe choice, and I don't like safe choices

bigkittinteef 04-24-2012 12:53 PM

I miss it too! I am sad to let that part of my life go but then I remember that there will be ample opportunity for the ridiculous in vet med. Thanks to Abney and her anal gland stories. ;)

This doesn't work for me. I'm the freak that sees a crying, screaming baby and think "oh poor thing. But look how cute he is. I want one now!" I have moved way past baby-crazy. I should probably be committed.

I have been referred to as the baby whisperer. I have a calming effect. I have had friends/people I babysat for tell me their babies/kids really dislike strangers and I am able to get the kid smiling and laughing in less than a minute. It is fun to stun friends that way with calming down their crying kids.

nyanko 04-24-2012 02:29 PM

OTOH, one of my hockey teammates had to go grab something real quick while we were in the locker room after a game, and she had her baby in the room, and handed her to me without thinking like "hey can you hold her for a minute?"

I have no idea how to hold a kid and it was I am sure one of the absolute most awkward moments of my life sitting there with the kid on top of my arms and a look of sheer confusion/panic on my face. My team still laughs at me about it and it was over 2 years ago.

Yes, me too. I often find that the calming effect works on my friends too, because they often rest their heads on my shoulders and just fall asleep. I love to carry around the sickies at work to calm them down when they are stressed and it usually works. I went to the pig farm for class one day and we had to take the piglets off the sow. Everyone's piglet was screaming its head off and mine was just fine with a gentle rocking back and forth.

Not babies, but toddlers and older tend to love me. I wish I liked them more, because I hate being a dick to kids, but they stress and tire me out way too much to spend extensive time with them.

I don't like toddlers because I can't relate to them, but I mostly hate the parents who let their children turn into little monsters and have no discipline.
My mom is the executive director of an early child learning center. I needed a job in high school and she refused to hire me "for the children's sake" :smack:
Not sure where those genes went.

Lol. I'm pretty good with kids. My mom owns a preschool, and I actually teach science lessons there once a week. The kids are all "Miss NStarz!" "Why isn't Miss NStarz teaching us science today?" It's really cute.

I have really weird OCD about the way things are eaten. To the point that people make fun of me. I am a spectacle when pizza is served. I have to make it into a square and at all times, it must be a square. I'm not f***in right .
This made me laugh... and then brought on slight panic :scared:
