My boyfriend (of 3ish years) is a software engineer. Not sure exactly how it's different than dating anyone else outside of the animal field - I tune out his computer mumbo jumbo about the same way he tunes out my gushing about puppies or something.
We're both relatively computer geeky, but he definitely goes more into the tech-y sides of things than I do, while I range further into artsy stuff.

Most of academic learning within computer science has nothing to do with suggesting a good virus program or building computers - it's a lot of math, data management and programming courses. The building and generally geekery just usually comes with the people haha.
