The SES argument will not result in more URMS and you should know this. Even though larger populations of blacks are on government benefits (I will call it GB) you have to pay attention to more to details. The ratio of blacks on GB: Non GB is higher but the number of whites on GB are still more than blacks because whites are a larger population (50% of 20 or 5% of 2000 which is higher?). We should all look at the numbers when we make arguments. It is like reading a chart without reading the title or the legend, SES would just bring in poorer people but would not solve the problem of URMS. Plus because a person decided to work hard, and pull themselves up they should be at a disadvantage? As much as it sucks to say there are a lot of people whose SES is due to their decision. When it comes down to it all schools have standard admissions standards, being an AA doesnt exempt you from them so people should not think of or treat "suspected AA students" as people who are unqualified to attend a school

If you agree in SES then let’s use if across the board instead of replacing AA. AA serves a purpose SES does not, it’s about race, and URMS are race classifications not based on socioeconomic standings. They are completely different things and serve completely different purposes, its apples and oranges.
