School districts have yea to year contracts and I was working at one school district and three of the school psychologists, including myself did not have our contracts renewed. Instead they hired three LPC's and one of them had the doctoral degree. I actually trained the LPC's as they were hired at mid-year. The doctoral level LPC who had a EdD degree in counseling referred himself as Dr. ? counseling psychologists. I informed him that he is not allowed to use this title as he was an LPC. He went to the special education director who was very upset and told me I had no business telling Dr. ? that he could not use the title psychologist. First sign of knowing my contract was not going to be renewed. I went back up to the Special Ed building during the summer to pick up some items I forgot when I cleaned out my office and sure enough his name and title was on my door as Dr. ?, LPC, Counseling Psychologist.
