History of the WWorld

And so it was on the 11th night, that there were 6 mortals left alive. Well really only 5 mortals plus WTF. The world was left with 3 politicians. That is one messed up world don't you think?

Anyway, tonight let us join in with Zanydogz as she does her normal nightly routine of being a snoop, because she is Jane Smith, busybody. and we can watch as events unfold. Usually Zany can only snoop in her region, but just for tonight, we will let her snoop anywhere in the world.



Our first stop is going to be at LIS' house. He is home. We all know LIS is Elijah the prophet/resurrector. Tonight, for once, nothing is happening involving LIS. He gets to sleep early and wake up late.

Then we stop by WTF's house. WTF, as we all know, is unnamed evil, the character who causes havoc. Tonight, to make things even more chaotic, she has decided to take off for the time of the game, just to make it even more confusing. WTF is gonna go out and party tonight, come home in the wee hours of the morning and pass out. Enjoy WTF. Zany has been suspicious of WTF for a long time, definitely not the type of person you want in your neighborhood.



That leaves our Vice-president, Katie8, our CEO Dyachei, and our ordinary citizen Nyanko. Dyachei is busy in her role as CEO, but she is also busy in Aristotle, constantly thinking and investigating. Tonight she is doing double duty as she has the encyclopedia to use to investigate as well as her normal use of reason. She also has the corporate jet at her disposal. That jet has been pretty handy. It has saved her life 2 times previously on ODD nights, and has been busy every EVEN night transferring people from around the world to Africa.

Nyanko and Katie8 are going to come visit Dyachei this night. One to try to kill her once more, again attempting the kill on a night when Dyachei can escape. The other comes with a weapon in hand with an unknown motive. Nyanko is the Delphic oracle, capable of getting questions answered directly from the mod/god. Tonight she has asked if wolves have the any capability of making intercontinental kills, and the answer she was given was "no". Katie8 is Alexander Graham Bell, she has the ability to send messages to anyone in the game, but more importantly, to hear back from them if they are a player who is silenced, mute, or otherwise incapable of communications. She has been having an ongoing conversation with Nutmeg our immortal Zeus, once she discovered he could answer back. Many a night Zany has overheard Katie talking to a god. What she has done with that information is unknown.



So Zany follows Nyanko and Katie8 to Dyachei's house for the first time. She has never been here before where so much of the game has unfolded. Dyachei has looked up Katie8's role in the encyclopedia and is relieved to discover that Katie8 has an interesting role regarding communication, just as she has claimed. She also tries to investigate WTF's name, but is unsuccessful, WTF is beyond logic, and she cannot learn anymore about WTF.

When Nyanko shows up, she trips the proximity alarm, and Dyachei heads to her jet, and takes off again for the night. Nyanko enters an empty house. She turns around, and there waiting for her is Katie8. Katie is toting the trusty musket that has done so much damage in the game. She raises it at Nyanko, Nyanko in resignation raises her arms to surrender, but Katie8 is mad, shows no mercy and blows a whole in Nyanko's chest. Nyanko, Rick Santorum, a converted wolf, is dead. At some level Nyanko is smiling inside, she always wanted to kill Rick herself!

And so ends the fight of good vs evil in the History of the WWorld. Initially, I intended the battle to continue even after one side is defeated to demonstrate the regional conflicts that occur even if everyone is good (or everyone evil), but due to the foresight of your president, everyone but Dyachei has been gathered in the same continent. Well done LIS. I will predict the next night's action and say that Dyachei will move to Africa, and Africa will emerge as the victor in the regional battle in this game.

But I cannot leave you without pointing out that WTF yet lives. That even when you have defeated your enemy, whether in a battle of nationalism, or in a battle or ideals, or any other battle, there is always some evil that remains, some force that will upset the best intentions of the survivors. And so, the next WW game is present even as the last one ends.

GAME OVER

A few thought on the design of this game (for future mods reference).

Other than the general idea to take interesting characters from history for the roles, was my idea to have a god character who could have access to lots of information. I required a huge limit on their power so that was the restriction on outgoing PMs and posting. That was of course balanced by the ability to visit as a mortal, and to have a character who could communicate with him. Lastly, with such a powerful figure, I needed a lot more wolves so I started at 6, had 2 who could convert themselves, and then the wolf conversion.
About zeus and nutmeg… I specifically designed the game so nutmeg COULD be converted. I thought for sure he would catch on that the conversions were every 3rd day (since he had to resurrect someone after the conversions) and would avoid coming down then. In fact, he came down on day 9, and could have been converted. Thought that would be hilarious. And thanks to Nutmeg. He is a pretty cool guy and I designed the role for him, without ever asking him, so I feel lucky he agreed to play. If not, I am sure someone else would have done fine… maybe not quite as successful though!

The other big idea in this game was the late addition in my scheme of the chaos character. Having a character who would add a reveal element of randomness appealed to me. Killing good and bad to shake up and confuse. It is funny how quickly WTF’s role was revealed, but that worked just as well as it being hidden. I really liked that role, and I think WTF enjoyed it as well. By the way, it was possible to kill WTF. Just needed to be a combo of 2 things, not just one. Silence and shoot. Shoot and attack, jail and attack, etc.

Not just for WTF, but for others, I thought the concept of jail, where one’s powers are diminished would be used to get at difficult to reach players. Anyone could be killed in jail (Zeus, WTF, escape characters), where they couldn’t use powers, and that’s why I included 2 jailors. Unfortunately this aspect of the game never really got used.

Another idea I have been wanting to do was the investigative item that gave wrong info. I was surprised more people didn’t get accused because of this, you all were quick to figure it out. Once I had one item, I figured I had to have more, and I don’t like items so much so I made them ALL broken (except for blackboard which I added AFTER the game started). I was amazed how many times y’all tried to use broken items. And the wolves cracked me up, continuing to use ID protection throughout the game that was useless (and hoarding it). Any item send to Tom was automatically repaired, so it was always best to send it to him, even for the wolves, unless it was a dangerous item.
The idea of moving people around was also something I had been thinking of, and I coupled that with limiting wolf powers to only kill in their area. That wasn’t a big issue until the end of the game for the wolf-kind.

The wolves themselves were especially strong in this game, given really cool powers, jailing, possession (where powers are stolen),torture/silence and conversion. And because I didn’t want them to lose those powers I made one character (hitler) who could accumulate them on other wolves’ death. Unfortunately, the wolves with cool powers died early.

I also tried to mix up names a little bit so it wasn’t always clear if a wolf was evil or not or a good player might not be a wolf. That was fun. And investigations from Dyachei only initially gave the name making it hard to know for sure if someone was evil.
Other than that, it was just picking up unusual roles. One of my favorites, was Pet Pony, the assassin. She had a chance to convert players into assassins and form her own army so to speak. She wasn’t necessarily good or evil. Luckily or unluckily she never got to live long enough to expand.

A few thoughts on how the game turned out:
The wolves were kicking butt early in the game, and with all the conversions to their side, I thought the game was going to end very early.

I think one turning point was the night Cuitl was killed by WTF. That was a big loss for the wolves, didn’t kill their target, lost a cool power that could have helped them, and lost a wolf of course. Also, sheepie trying to kill WTF was a waste of a kill they could have used.
Then it seemed that WTF was always just killing the same person as the wolves, so there were a lot fewer villager deaths than would have been expected. I think the villagers were pretty lucky about that one.

And then there are the multiple attempts on Dyachei. I didn’t think it would be that hard to see that every other night Dyachei was transporting people. I mostly announced it in the write-ups. Obviously if the plane is in use then it can’t be used for her escape. Unfortunately, Nyanko kept on attacking on the nights odd numbered nights when the plane was available for escape. Killing Dyachei earlier would have helped, as the CEO was a kick-ass role add-on.

Finally, the wolves really could have used that ID protection. Hoarding for themselves, and hence keeping it useless, was really counterproductive. Once Tom’s ability was made public they should have sent it over to them.
Finally, have to give props to Nutmeg. He ID’ed Emiloo right away on his day as a mortal. She was invulnerable to investigation, and her ability to move and convert were key. She was perfectly situated to cause trouble in Africa after her one move. Also she was killed trying to convert Katie8 that night. That would have been an interesting conversion, with her link to nutmeg.

Thanks to everyone who played and enjoyed. It has really given me something to take my mind off my personal situation. I could never have done this game under normal circumstances. It was incredibly time consuming. If I ever do a game like this again I would need 2 co-moderators. One person to collect all the information each night and tally the votes, one person to do the write-ups, one person to do the PM-ing. And of course, I couldn’t have survived without Shortnsweet. Thanks for co-modding at the last minute.

Historical WW Game.

1 – Alexander Graham Bell, the communicator. You have the ability to send a message to any one player each night. Send your message to the moderator and it will be forwarded to a player of your choosing. Due to your extensive work with the deaf, if you contact a “muted” player, they will be able to communicate back to you (through me).

2 – Henri Philippe Petain, aka Marshall Petain, the collaborator. As the head of the Vichy government, you symbolize working with the enemy. If you are initially investigated, your role will only be reported as “Marshall of France”. You will be counted as “evil” for purposes of determining the number of villagers left, but you will be required to report to Hitler each day directly through PMs on anything you learn. The last evil character left in the game can choose to have you killed in their place.

3 – Aristotle, the scholar. Your intelligence allows you to investigate any player in the game. You will be told their title but not their actual role. You can re-investigate a player a second time to clarify their role. A third investigation will be necessary to learn all the details of their role. At the time of your death you can choose either to 1) Pass on your abilities to another player. OR 2) pass on what you have already learned to another player.

4- Elijah, the prophet. Elijah has the ability to resurrect one player from the dead. You can resurrect any player killed in the game, or not alive from the beginning. If you resurrect an “evil” character, they join the side of the villagers but are mute, and cannot discuss strategy, but they CAN vote. You may not disclose this information, or you shall be killed. Others may discover this ability of yours through investigation. Upon your death you can reveal the evil character killing you.

5 – Benedict Arnold, aka General Arnold, the traitor. You can choose to join evil side after the 4th night. Up until then you are considered a villager. If you are investigated, your name will be revealed as General Arnold, and your role will be “fighter” through the 4th night, and traitor after the 4th night. Until the 4th night, you may assassinate one player. After the 4th night you may assassinate another player if you convert. Your character’s name (although not your own) will be revealed when you choose to assassinate.

6 - Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Shogun, The unifier. As a ruler you can unify the factions. If you are elected to a position of power you can PM every player in the game. You can unseat the ruler of your region one time and take over and appoint yourself shogun. You can also assassinate another ruler whether or not you are in a position of power. The assassination will be announced as done by the shogun, but not mention you specifically. While leader you cannot be killed. Your reign is short. After 4 days your reign will be over and you will lose all of your abilities and you will be just another villager.

7 – Ezio Auditore, assassin. As leader of the Assassins order in 16th century Italy, You have the ability to assassinate players in the game. You may do this 2 times. After your first assassination, you may instead to choose another player to join the order of assassins, and they would retain your powers, allowing the order to grow. You must wait 4 nights after the first assassination to kill or recruit.

8 – Robert Oppenheimer, scientist. As a crucial member of developing the atomic bomb, you are in large part responsible for the development of the nuclear umbrella, protecting our allies. As such, each night you may pick up to 2 players protect. If any of those players are attacked, they will be saved, but you will lose one of your 2 atomic bombs. If you are attacked you will die but take your attacker with you (assuming you still retain any bombs). You will be silenced due to the EM pulse for one full day/night cycle for each “protection”. You must PM me in the first half of the night cycle. If I do not receive a PM I will protect the last 2 players you picked. If one of them is dead I will protect no one. Please be sure to always PM to facilitate game movement. Contingencies are fine.

9 – Helen Keller, deaf mute. You cannot communicate in this game. There will be one player that has the ability to contact you. If they figure it out, you can send one piece of information to them per day/night cycle (please cc me the info). If you are killed, you can release one piece of information through your “writings” as a dead person each day/night cycle (it must be in some sort of interesting prose format). You can post as a troll the piece of information. One piece of information would be a players name,OR role, OR description. To tell all of that would require 3 days. Please be careful not to lose your privilege. You can investigate one person and you will learn EVERYTHING about them while alive. People may criticize your for communicating as a dead person. You must say nothing. Leave it to me. Once you are dead you can no longer investigate.
10 - Mario Andretti, driver. You can transfer players from one region to another (including yourself). There may be strategic reasons why this could be helpful. You must be in the region you want to move someone, in order for them to be the passenger. The person’s movement will be disclosed, but your involvement will stay hidden. Player being transferred cannot be attacked in the night you are transporting. You may only transport every other night. You can only be killed by evil in the region where you end up on any given night.

11 – Harry Houdini, magician. As a famous escape artist, you cannot be killed at night unless you have been “weakened” first. As a visual illusionist, no one can see your role with their eyes. They will see you as Harry Truman to throw them “off the scent” and not make you too suspicious.

12 – Isaac Newton. Alchemist. Gravity, calculus, blah blah blah. Newton was really a diehard alchemist. As such, you can perform the following transformations. 1) Silence/weaken another player for one day/night cycle. 2) Transform any player into a “good” player with no role temporarily. 3) Bring out the true nature of a player if it is hidden. You can use the first role 3 times, the 2nd role 2 times, and the last role 1 time (but you may attempt the last role many times until you find a player it affects). When you silence or weaken a player you also make them vulnerable and more information can be learned by an investigator than normal.

Zeus. The god. You are almost invincible. You are automatically the unappointed ruler of the world. You cannot be killed under normal conditions, although it is possible. You CANNOT vote under normal conditions. You can receive a PM from any player but cannot PM back to them except perhaps in special circumstances.
You may choose two times to assume mortal form where you can vote and send PMs for a full day/night cycle but will then be vulnerable to attack, conversion, lynching, silencing, etc just like any other mortal. . If you are converted, you will obviously not have the same role. More details if it occurs. You will not count in the “tally” for good guys except when you are in mortal form. When you are in mortal form the world will know. Send me a PM in the night cycle for the following day when you want to do this. I will NOT wait for your PM each day, so best to send it early if you plan on doing it. You also must tell me what region of the world you plan on entering, and which “lass” you plan on ravishing. While you pursue that player they are incapable of being harmed.
Besides assuming mortal form, you may direct me that you would wish to use either thunder/lightning or a rainbow in a certain region each day. If you want to include the time you sent me the message I will pick a post around that time and reference it, but you may not tell me a specific post number. You will have to chance that I am close to the one you are referring to. Please make sure to tell me in advance what your time difference is. (I am in the Eastern Zone).
Your first job as ruler of the world is to kick someone OUT of Mount Olympus and into Asia to balance out the sides. Please PM me when you have decided. We will not start the first night until that is accomplished.




14 – Delphic Oracle, advice columnist, You have the ability to communicate with God/Mod(me) to find out more details. You are not a seer, so you cannot find out what role SOV has for example. But you can ask questions like Can Harry Potter be killed? Ask your questions carefully, I will not answer it all questions, and you must try to figure out what is worth asking? He can also fire the vice president and appoint a new one (twice). He can resign. He can grant a favor to his top supporter (the CEO of WW Inc), because politics is really just about money. He can also mobilize his troops. That is it. Only part of your role that is known will be the favor granting to the CEO by the CEO. Of course you can PM to the vice prez and the CEO. Oh, did I mention you can pardon someone in jail (twice)

You have been elected vice-president. Well that is ****ty job isn’t it. Your role is so ceremonial, you cannot be investigated in most circumstances, because there would be nothing to find. If you can convince the CEO, you can impeach the president and take over his position. IF you really want it.

You have been elected CEO of WW Inc. Honestly the world is all abouts the money and you’ve got it. With it you can buy a favor from the president. What kind of favor? You can help to repair something, heal a player, give them back something a normal player would have. You also own a corporate jet.
You will use this every other night to move a player to a new continent. Text me your move on even nights. If I don’t hear from you, I will do what I want. You can also escape a lynch vote with your jet on an ODD numbered day (otherwise it will be busy flying the world). Also, you can join the vice-prez in kicking out the president (the vice prez becomes the new president). This is by far the best position in politics I think!

It was really a small thing. It was meant for the game after one side was killed off, you could move all the people in one continent to your location to facilitate the after-battle.

You really destroyed that part of my plan by moving almost everyone to one location before the end of the game.

In a very literal sense, all we needed was any two of the above to work and we would have won the game on night 6. The end. Go to hell villagers. Its why I decided to sort of say "Screw it" with the appropriate and metered moves and make sure a villager fried in the lynch vote, so I could end the game immediately. If even just the conversion happened, we would have won the game just on that (not accounting for WTF's kill move)

That night SOV didn't allow us to jail or torture anyone (long story. Not totally blaming him. but maybe a little since victory was right there), ignored our conversion (but later allowed it, after it was too late to declare "wolf victory") and WTF blocked our kill directly. Needless to say I was furious because *even with* the suckiness of WTF killing one of us and blocking our kill at once... we'd still win if we were allowed to do our two silences. (7 vs 6 as we did get the conversion and then two silences). But noooooo......

I was ticked off. I went to nutmeg and more or less asked for him to show the wolves some love, or plain out smite me. He chose the latter, I don't respect him for that even though I knew it was an option. Zeus is the god of lighting, rock and roll, hookers, and blow. They don;t teach you that in middle school, but its true. He'd so be a wolf sympathizer.
