This is more of a general point, so I'm not at all saying you were implying this in your post--but re: the bolded portion above, not everyone can (and should) be involved in management, which is fine. It's definitely possible to have a career in a non-managing/non-supervisory position.
I know that not everyone should be in management, trust me I worked in retail for almost four years so I know this!
I just said that to make the point that mostly college grads are taking the management positions away from people who have worked for the company for many years and could do such a better job than a person fresh out of college with no real world experience.
