I have no clue how they would convince the ACGME that they're working 80/wk on average, unless they get a solid 7 days off each month. Yet nothing changes, and our programs remain competitive and in good standing. I must be missing something...
I know people at ~10 different institutions in different surgical residencies (general, ortho, uro, ENT). They all go way over the 80/hr restriction, and probably average closer to 100 hrs in a typical week
