If you want to get a non-medically related job, you should try being a waiter/waitress. I once heard about an applicant who spent a few summers waiting on tables and his interviewer loved it. They spent a lot of time during the interview talking about all the similarities there are between waiting tables and seeing patients (e.g. lots of social interactions, having to be friendly to all of them (or else you don't get a good tip!), having to keep a lot of things in your short term memory, etc.)
