Default NPR's Story On Pharmacist Surplus

While listening to NPR today, I was quite surprised to hear a story about pharmacy students and future pharmacist. Here's the link to the podcast and story.

I saw a "live" performance of "This American Life" at a local theater a couple weeks ago. It was 2 hours long and worth every penny of the $18 admission fee.

My favorite segment was the one where they interviewed a man who bought a storage locker and found over 100,000 photographic negatives, and put some of the pictures on Flickr just to see if anyone recognized people in the pictures, and not only was one of those people interviewed, user feedback told him that he had stumbled onto a person who was a genius.

I also liked the one with Terry Gross as an action movie hero. I doubt if that one, titled "Fresh Air 2", will be aired on the radio because you have to watch it to appreciate it.

She's far from ugly. Her intelligence makes her quite hot to me. She probably has good personality too.

Agreed! Shiny and pretty are only entertaining for so long, but the sweet ones that are interesting keep me around. Also, SHC1984, sometimes the hottest women are the ones who know they're hot but usually like to pretend they haven't noticed. Especially when they know they got us beat, but tell us how great we look anyway.

Sparda doesn't seem to be around much these days. I wonder if he is busy driving taxis or just studying for boards...

I probably spent just as much as SHC on stuff during school, except my expenses were $800-$1200 plane tickets.

Granted, you can't substitute riding a bike to London while you can carry your stuff around in a $2 canvas grocery bag.

Wouldn't it be cool to have a "best of pharmacy forum" like the best of craigslist?

What could go in?
-diaper thread
-medicaid thread
-HICP
-A collection of Sparda's shady stories
-A collection of SHC's rantings on being hot and rich
-The camera thread
The fight between mountain and rxnupe
The admissions man melt down
Renetto vs. passion4sci
Alaska thread
Unicorn thread
The medical assistant thread?

What else could be on the ballot?

I would tweak it a bit, but that is actually a really good recap of the last 3-5 years on here. Personally I just show up every day on here ready to do my best to keep Alaska relevant.

You're welcome then. Haha, in the other thread I think we were discussing cramming into rxlea's tight igloo after chasing the $1M jobs and welfare in Alaska.

You would be proud.

Dude, take a CHILL PILL. LOL...I have to sit at my computer for 8 hours a day reading articles from Pubmed and making powerpoint presentations. I am just trying to put some humor into my day. It's all fun and jokes that's all.

No need to be so serious. It's call a JOKE.

I think Korea is worse in terms of color hierarchy and image.

This is why I love Japan...no one gives a crap and funky is in.

Back to the topic: pharmacy schools will eventually naturally break into a tiered system, like law schools did. Those graduates from the new schools will not be able to find employment, since pharmacy education is not standardized. I just graduated in a highly saturated area, but from a top 10 school, and I have 2 offers (I'm taking the one at the beach). Why? Because out of the several interviews I had, I had the interviewers comment on the school I came from and that those candidates have always been highly recommended. This is humbling at least, and makes me feel lucky that I decided early on I was not just going to pick a random school. I saw this oversupply coming year 1 of school. I still do not understand these people just matriculating. Go to PA school, med school, dental school, if your'e a nurse go for the FNP, just don't do pharmacy! I am very lucky the company I work for cares about how the profession is seen by the public, since most do not, but they're going against the tide.

In what way does your company address how the profession is seen by the public?
