Is Gold Standard VR is easier than the AAMC?

It's generally considered even worse than Kaplan (which is pretty bad). The ONLY reason to do GS VR is if doing a GS FL (to ensure you are building your stamina properly). Otherwise, scrap'em.

We have read almost all the comments left on SDN regarding our VR tests (we have 20; 10 as part of our 10 CBTs and 10 separate tests). Because of these comments, we undertook in January to revise GS VR and hoped to be finished by Spring. The project is incomplete.

The earliest that we can put our new VR section online will be this Fall. We have been testing and retesting the smallest details to ensure that the new VR, like GS PS and GS BS, are either at par with the real MCAT or a little more challenging.

They don't really have 20.... maybe 16. 4 of the 10 that you can buy as a VR Package are nothing like a real verbal. When I say nothing, I mean they're are some tests with 9 passages and two paragraphs per passage. And the questions are way too easy in most cases. Its like they took one test and chopped it up to make 4. As with their PS, their VR is really detail oriented, Ie: way too many 'according the author/passage' questions. On one of their tests I got an 11 with my eyes closed, and ten minutes to spare.

On AAMC tests, you might be lucky if you got a couple on a science passage but this question type is definitely a favorite for MCAT-Prep VR.

They don't tell you this before you buy them, but they're considered 'warm' up practice tests. Well I'll stand corrected.... they say (not verbatim because am too lazy to go back and look for exact wording so this is pretty close)
"we offer you 10 tests ranging from easy all the way up to the real thing..."
I guess that's a verbal test in it of itself.

So if you're considering buying their $160, don't bother.

Additionally, there seems to be a discrepancy between what this rep is saying and their live chat rep, 'jessica'. A few weeks ago I had a conversation with jessica, and she told me that the VR has changed since last year. Which correct me if I'm wrong, is a little different than, "The earliest that we can put our new VR section online will be this Fall" -MCAT-Prep Rep.

PM me if you have a question about the GS tests.
