Hey guysss....for some reason, whenever i post in the what are my chances thread,it keeps making my topic in the MD section.. while really i wanted to make it in the DO section....anywayzzz.... hey guyss *waves* i am new to this forum.. and neeed quiet a lot of advices.. :$

V: 8, PS: 12, BS: 10 = 30 S is my mcat guys.. cGPA: 3.59 .. just graduated with a BSc from UofT... am a Canadian resident..

and i am a LATE COMER... somehow, becuz of certain reasons, my applications got DELAYED... majorly... the reason i delayed it was, i studying for mcat seemed crazyyy... my practice test scores after reveiweing all my basics were around 24ish..so my actual score of 30 was actually a major surprise...and i thought of giving US med schools a shot.. but now I just realized that with my stats, and applying SO LATE, i am pretty much doomed for MD in US...i STILL am going to be applying to couple of med schools in US - the low tier ones mostly in NY just to try my luck :$.. but i had thought abt backups while working on my application, and carribean md (most probably SGU) tops my list of alternatives right now.. however, just a couple days back while researching i finally read abt DO's.. plz don't kill me, as ignorant as i am, i never truly knew about DO.. but i kept reading DO is a better option than caribean at many sites, thus I thought to search it up..

i won't say i still understand what DOs are exactly.. as in, from reviews, it seems DO's are pretty much same as MD's, except for their focus is more on the musculoskeletal sys and their approach is more holistic... but then how abt specialities.. for eg, can i go into neuro speciality with a DO??? how would a neuro DO resident differ from a MD neuro res? i am talking abt neuro in general..neurology perhaps.. or maybe even neurosurgery...

i know u guys wud tell me to search it up, as loads of discussions have been done on this, but if any1 cud just summarize DO vs MD a bit for me, i would REALLY appreciate it! plzzz!

oh and finally, back to my main topic.. i am LATE.. however, with my current stats: what are my chances of getting accepted into DO? and can i get a residency back in canada with a DO?? or later on come and practice here? becuz it seeems with a carribean md from sgu, i may (if i work my butt off) secure a residency back in canada..
and which DO schools shud i be applying to, based on my lateness and my stats?
as for my EC stuff... umm.. not much.. couple of hours volunteering in local hospital 2 years back... volunteered in relay for cancer this summer... was a high school tutor last year for 4 months.. been exec of two cultural clubs.. this sorta minor stuff... volunteered extensively in a driving school office..

so... what are my chances for DO? and where shud i apply? and is there some DO school that can do with JUST half an english credit??? oh and .. i know this q's been asked many times as well.. but.. US DO or SGU (carib) MD??????

p.s: new member here.. so plz be nice ppl :P
p.s.s: i HAVE to get into SOME medical school next year.. as it is i have graduated thisyear.. i am going to be taking this year off - i will be taking orgo 2 and an english course next semester... so i HAVE to start med school, be it whereever, next year... keeping all of this in mind... would some1 be relally nicee and kind enuff to give me a few suggestions????? which way shud i go from here now...?
