Hi all,
I am really torn here as I try to make a decision between going to Columbia to study Health Promotion (SMS) and getting my MSPH from UNC in their Health Policy Program.
Columbia has given me $10,000, but with cost of living in NYC, that won't be a big factor in my decision.
The thing is, comparing Health Promotion MPH and a Health Policy MSPH is like comparing apples and oranges, so I'm a little lost. I'm not sure of *exactly* what I will do with my Master's Degree, but I know that I don't want to work for a non-profit or do aid-work...I want to do something a little more research- or business-oriented.
It's hard to let go of Columbia because of the brand name it carries, I know that having that on a resume will be helpful. However, UNC seems like an extremely welcoming place in which it is possible to build great connections and to network. Also it seems that they are more helpful re: job search. It is certainly a "warmer" atmosphere.
Does anyone have any input that might help? Thanks so much--this is my first post here and just looking through these forums has been edifying!
