Share scores and/or inspiring stories for us pre-meds out there.

I'll go first, I unfortunately did not score as high as I had expected to score. I had already applied so I thought I would continue with this cycle. Scored a 19 <-- don't judge. Score was a result of issues I had to take care of...I'll definitely retake if I don't get accepted. I know my chances are slim to none, but let's see what happens. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

This is a thread about MCAT scores, not ACT scores.

Oh, and I'd actually laugh at you more for taking the MCAT in high school than a college student getting a lower score than they'd like. Just like I'd laugh at a pre-med asking questions about what kind of USMLE score they'd need to match into dermatology.

Really? One day?

Now I really feel like a moron studying for that test for the last 8 months.

Almost everyone in this thread is being a troll whether they do it intentionally or not. Stop demeaning people for no reason. (I think this should be in the MCat discussions thread though)

1) Didn't know what an average meant.
2) Took MCAT (or practice) as a Junior in HS
3) Is in "Low MCAT club" and makes fun of other members
4) OP says he had other issues to take care of first. Still laughs at him.

Anyways OP, I applaud your optimism. Very few of us, myself included, would remain that optimistic about the situation. Good luck to you this cycle.

Thanks, I appreciate it!

It's kind of sad because I did worst than my diagnostic, so clearly, my mind was not where it should have been.

Again, Good Luck to Everyone!

Definitely commend you on your optimism. I am currently in this "party," and so all I can offer to you is that attitude is everything. I know the reason for my score was test anxiety, and from what i can see, its the same for you. Work at it, retake, and keep your head up

Thanks for the advice berries!

And I 100% agree with you about attitude is everything. There is no point feeling pity for oneself. Rather, realize what you have done and fix it. I wish you success and Good Luck!

You guys should post what you think you did wrong , so others and yourself can learn from the mistakes and post how you think you can improve.

Evilsponge: Thanks

vnicolas: Great idea.

keep in mind that I was short on studying time because of personal issues.

Physical sciences: I realized that my general chemistry knowledge was solid (I would typically miss 3-4 questions per test), but for some reason, I continued to focus on this section instead of physics. Was averaging an 8 (would get a 9 once in a while) in this section and got an 8 on the real thing.

My mistake for this section= Not focusing on physics. I knew I had trouble on this area but I was avoiding it.

Verbal= verbal was a shocker for me. I would typically get 8s or 9s (7s once in awhile) and for the real mcat I felt that I got a 11, but instead got a 6.

My mistake for this section= clueless!

Biological Sciences: Did not have a chance to finish and study about 5 chapters from EK (due to circumstances), resulting in a low score (5). Typically I got 8s on Bio.

My mistake for this section: Did not cover all material

How to improve:

-Now that I have overcame the personal issues, I'll begin studying for the test after I graduate.

Physical Sciences: Focus on Physics and skim General Chem.

Verbal: Read one article everyday from the economist and other news articles.

Biological sciences: Once I graduate, I'll have two important bio and biochem classes that should help. I'll be focusing on the bio aspect since I'm comfortable with ochem.

In addition, you can tell what material you used to prep and whether you feel like the prep material was good or bad

I used EK. I think if you have a solid understanding of the material before you begin studying for the MCAT, the EK is nice for review.

In regards to verbal, I was using EK 101 verbal passages. I kept getting 8s and 9s using their prep material, but on the real deal I got a 6. So I feel that their verbal did not prepare me well enough.

I tried both EK and Berkeley verbal. They are not very good. EK 101 topics are much easier comparing to the real MCAT and the reasoning used to pick answer in Berkeley is like a research paper. Only AAMC practice verbal are like the real thing for obvious reason.

Yep, but if I'm not mistaken, MCATs don't get erased from your record, so every school that he applies to will know he was a douche who took the MCAT in high school. And some might even average his scores.

Okay please nerds take a chill pill. If you can't handle a random person casually making fun of you for a low MCAT score than you definitely should not be entering medicine..
