Can any current students explain what you did for clinicals in your first year? It seems like you would be acting as a vet tech since you don't have any academic instruction behind you at all? Were you restraining animals and observing or was there any level of responsibilty that you think of clinical rotations traditionally having?

Great.... I'm IS too and was hoping the cutoff was lower... I got the impression that it was closer to a 3.1-3.2 and anyone above that went on to the second round. Guess my 3.3 cumulative and 3.0 science GPA won't be cutting it then?

If you didn't get a rejection letter in December, than you did make the phase 1 cuts. I know someone who's in state and she was notified then by snail mail.

The cutoff for OOS vs IS is usually a bit higher due to there being so many more OOS people competing for fewer spots, I believe!

Mine says Interview offered as well. I really hope I get that letter before the 17th. I have a flight voucher with Southwest that expires that day and would really like to use that money before it goes to waste.

Just wondering where on the website you saw this UIUC? I need to request the time off from work and just want to make sure I have the correct dates. Thanks!

Hmmm, and if it says "Interview Confirmation Status: Please wait for official letter mailed 01/09/12" then we can assume it isn't an interview letter arriving?

I am a little. I am not good at recalling situations and using them as examples. I guess I will have to do a lot of pre-brainstorming before hand.

Sameee. That's why I'm worried. Also, I feel like I haven't been in a whole lot of situations where there was a situation I had to fix. Or maybe I'm just super forgetful. Or both.

Same. I think I am the type where its just not a big deal so if I sit around awhile I can probably think of something, but most likely I have forgotten most conflicts that have occurred in my life.

Not my thread, but practice or "mock" interviews are great for this sort of thing. Put your suit or at least your heels on, walk into a room and have friends act as your committee, reading questions from SDN interview feedback. Helps you practice coming up with scenarios to explain.

Also, another interview tip, most college career centers will do mock interviews (and I think I've seen my grad advertise Skype advising sessions, so they'd probably do Skype mock-interviews also; worth asking about if you've graduated) and I'm sure they would be happy to use a set of questions you provide (or at least focus on a certain type of question, if there is something you're more worried about being able to answer). For me at least, it's really different answering questions asked by someone I know pretty well versus someone I don't know or have maybe only met once or twice.

Default Stats of IS applicants who received interviews?

For those of you who are IS applicants and who received interviews, are any of you willing to share what your cum and science GPAs are?

I'm applying to Illinois this upcoming summer/fall, and the 3.62 cum OOS GPA cutoff for this application round is scaring me . . . .

Thanks!

I hope I get a morning or early afternoon interview! The last flight out back to Boston leaves at 530pm so if I get one of the later interviews, I'll be staying another night in Illinois and missing an extra day of work. I tried calling the offices today to find out about times, but I guess they don't have them listed in their system. Looks like I'll be calling my parents every hour while I'm at work tomorrow to check for the mail.

Once you've gotten an interview gpa no longer matters. 75% of the final decision is the application and 25% is interview...look on the site where it explains "phases" of the application process

My mom is kind of hoping for one a little later in the day I think. I just got an interview with Auburn, which I set up for the 10th to avoid any potential conflicts with Tufts since I'm still hoping for an invite from them. My mom and I were planning on driving down and staying with my Uncle in Georgia since he lives 2 hours away from Auburn, but I guess she wants to stay an extra day in Georgia to visit everyone. This means I wouldn't be getting pack to PA until sometime Sunday evening. Ended up getting into a little bit of an argument. It's not like I have much control over these things...

Orca are you planning on bringing your Mom to your interview? I am trying to figure out if I should ask mine to tag along. It is only a 2 hour drive for us

To Illinois? I'm not sure as I might be taking Nordi up on her offer since I can only fly into Midway if I want to use my money from a cancelled Southwest flight last year. She came to all of mine last year (except Penn really-she drove me there but couldn't partake in anything like the tour) and I liked having her there. Sometimes I think she knows me better than myself and can get a feel too if I belong somewhere. If I was only 2 hours away, I would probably bring her; my mom helps keep me relaxed a bit too.

Just booked my flight and hotel... I'm so excited!!! Does anyone know where they're staying yet and would anyone like to plan a dinner/breakfast? Otherwise it's going to be me eating by myself in the hotel.
