Rank of dental schools - usa (2011)

This thread will help students to choose a Dental School if they have multiple options for selections. The rankings for Dental Schools has been performed by a survey between highly professional Dentists, Competitive Students, wide range of Professors and Researchers. The rankings to the Dental School has been provided on the basis of several factors like Academic excellence, Community Activities and other activities like seminar, conferences, workshops, continuing educations. High Tech equipment, campus area and housing. Never the least Research activities and publications has also been given a good amount of consideration. Thank you Rise up!! for visiting the thread.
The source for this thread is internal and straight from American Dental Association Organisation. They do survey every year with Proffesors, Researchers, ASDA students and lot of other faculty members. Based on survey they decide how much grant has to be given to each school. Also their accreditation is somewhat depended on it. ADA figure out which school students have performed excellence in national Dental Boards.... Keeping everything in consideration .... They Rank each Dental School, but they do not disclose it to Public. |

Guys, this is a nice and informative tool, but you need to focus on something else. With so many applicants and not so many programs, changed requirements and pass/fail exam, in the end the best program is the that will accept YOU!

there is no ranking for dental schools in the united states each school has its pro's and cons for joining which should be concidered as an individual case and then schools chosen.....
at the end we all answer a common dental lisencing exam which if we pass means we meet the standards of that state as a dentist..... plus all international dentists are already dentists just we need to learn treatment here to get the liscence ....... |

oh and alexa....if this is confidential ADA stuff then think 100 times before posting it with your name in an open forumn.....if the ADA decides for whatever reason you have violated some of their rules than even having contacts with the president will not help you continue your dream

I feel each dentist should do proper research into the schools which they want to get into and then make their own list .... if there is nothing official like a ranking by ADA then i do not think it should be concidered
Things to think about while choosing schools 1) which state you want to practice in , normally single people have the tendency to stay in the same state as the school they graduate from , unless they have family elsewhere 2) if you want to specialize look into the staff at that school are they good teachers of the subject you want to specialize in... these are just examples , im sure everyone can come up with more Alexa i am not calling you a liar but SDN is very tricky and each person should be aware that there are a lot of people who are not genuine and put posts up just to give wrong information and depress people who are trying to get into school... Hey Spherulite,
I am sorry to be singling you out but its really pathetic of you to judge AAlexa. You should not even dare to tell him/her what her 'real' dream is. What the hell is that style, anyway?? There is nothing 'small' in being a pharmacist and nothing 'great' about being a dentist. These are 2 different professions. Maybe Aalexa loves pharmacy. Also, you should do some research on what pharmacology is and then post crap like this. I am sure the Director of Research at every good pharma company is a pharmacist and makes more money than almost every dentist. Poor, poor and poor is what I have to say

im sorry motriani if it came out that way...i ran a lab and did compounding medication for yrs in america... so pls do not talk to me about pharmacy i lived that life and vowed i would never be involved in that institution in america

I have not been to SDN in a while, but this post caught my eye and decided to comment:
Ranking of schools is and has been done for years, what it means to students may not be as relevent, I think it is just bragging rights etc. It is what you get out of the school and how you thrive that determines your experience. I had a great experience; educational and social experience at UIC. I would recommend UIC to anyone and cant say enough good things about it. But I am happy to See UIC move up to #7 spot, surpassing U of M Dental school.Good Luck To All P.S. Question: I hear that Western University (Pomona) recently hired a dentist that went bankrupt practicing dentistry. Do you think that's relevant? Or maybe the guy is a great dentist but a bad business guy? I looked over their faculty and most seem to be practicing on the side while they teach. But a few don't. Do you think that's a negative, that some of the faculty doesn't practice anymore? And what about the bankrupt professor??
