More of what I've been doing all year - traveling, attending weddings, reading for pleasure... basically trying to do as little work as possible. We are going to work hard for the next 3 (or 6, or 40) years, what's the rush? Enjoy your last 4 months of (relative) responsibility free living.

I plan on traveling as well. When do most programs expect you to show up in June?

It varies but I've seen as early as the first week and as late as the last day. Assume that you need to be ready to rock on June 15 (although the 14th is a Monday, so make it the 14th) but don't be surprised if it's earlier. My program started the new interns on the wards the last week of June and had a full week of orientation/training/BS before that so we started mid-month.

Don't plan anything other than moving and working for June unless you can get your money back. Take you vacation between Match Day and graduation.

It is truly solid/epic. And came out of nowhere...most prior posts were pretty typical med student anxiety/drivel. Looking forward to more good stuff.

I backpacked through Europe before starting med school and never regretted it. Before intern year I'm going to Equador and the Galapagos with my dad.

I would seriously suggest doing as little as possible to rest up for the onslaught that is intern year.

This is my plan...getting back end of May though. I hope that leaves enough transition time for intern year.

How do all of you med students have money to travel around the world before residency starts?

It sounds great and I sure would have loved to have done it.......but the day I finished med school I was flat broke after every penny of loans I got was spent and my next paycheck (albeit a small one) was not coming until the middle of July.

Travelling, drinking booze, and paying for hookers cost money. They don't grow on trees, so how in the world are you paying for it?????

If anyone of you don't have sheet to do in April, I'm starting a Werewolf game over in the lounge sometime next month (Probably weekend of the 7th), if anyone of you know of the game and want to play, by all means sign up on the thread . . . I mod a pretty sweet game.

Over in the Lounge we play WW like Calvinball, the rules are never the same twice, so its very likely you've NEVER played WW like this.

Link

Go to the last page, find the sign up list, copy, paste, add yourself, and post if interested.

Jdh, this sounds interesting to me. I've never played this game but I am a tabletop game veteran... how steep is the learning curve here?

Not too bad.

The basic version is that you've got "villagers" and "wolves" (some people call the game "mafia" I guess). The villagers don't know who the wolves are. You have a day cycle and a night cycle. The wolves kill one villager each night. The villagers lynch one player each day, hopefully catching a wolf. You kill all the wolves the villagers win, wolves kill all the villagers, they win.

The game gets more complex from there. In the our games, players will have different roles and abilities, like the ability to investigate a player each night, or the ability to protect one player each night for instance - or even items that have effects for that round. Of course you want to be a bit careful with your role, abilities and/or items . . . you might become target for the wolves. However, if you don't start working together the wolves will win . . . so it's kind of a mind ****, but fun as **** to play. It's all forum based. It doesn't require you be around the whole time, you play when you have time to check in and participate - though if you're gone too much, you might get the lynch for being quiet!!

Most people pick up the mechanics very quickly.
