There are some great names there but to me it's irrelevant without knowing which program. There is a big difference between FM at say U of Chicago vs Ophthalmology.
This reminds me of the shivers pre-meds get looking at their prospective schools list and seeing "johns Hopkins". It's all just a name game. |

Yup it's amazing, after looking at these things for about the last 5 years the only relevant information I get from them is pertaining to about 2 specialties I'm interested in and I know which programs are strong. As far as the specialties I'm not as familiar with I just take it as "yup that person matched, great".
This year seemed to be a competitive year for ACGME EM and Anesthesia, two specialties DOs typically do alright in, it's gonna be interesting to see the match stats when the reports come out. I think the next three years we are gonna start seeing the bottleneck from the increased class sizes finally graduating. |

I read in older EM posts that Denver health made it pretty difficult for DO's to match at their program. This'll be their second year matching a DO, which is great.
Also, isn't this year's MD NS match after the DO match? Pretty gutsy for that student to get the LSU match. Glad to see it. Edit: Also, TeamZ, can't wait for CCOM's list. |

Really hate that Touro-NY didn't release the programs in addition to the hospitals, oh well.
Through the grapevine, Hopkins was Gas as Student Doctor Espana mentioned. PM&R matches at Columbia, NYU, and Jefferson. Baystate must be Surgery, as its the only program they offer. I'm really curious what we matched at Sinai, I don't think it was PM&R and they don't have an FP program to my knowledge. NYU has taken our students before but this is the first I'm hearing of Sinai taking a DO. |

Sorry if this seems off-topic. But for medical students going to school in a state that requires a one year AOA residency, is there anyway to bypass that? Will they be able to apply to ACGME programs, and will it be hard for them (compared to a OMS at a non participating state)?

Damn, ok for all you bystanders out there, take a look at TCOMs list vs RVU. Not all DO schools are created equal.
I'm not meaning to hate on RVU bc of its tax status but it's just a prime example of a new DO school. |

We found out how we did on step 1 by looking at the COCA Accreditation Proposal document, not because the school let us know how we performed. So, given the history, I predict the school will merely work the statistics out and tell us what % went into a primary care field to make it appear that they are accomplishing their mission. But, as for actual programs and specialties matched? I highly doubt it, but who knows maybe if some students keep asking they will do something. But, definately not of their own accord. |
