I was waitlisted. Anyone else on the same page? I just sent an e-mail asking about my position and how long the list is.

I haven't heard anything either. Talked to Kathy last Monday, she said the committee was trying to finish making decisions last week. Maybe we will hear by the end of this week!

Sorry, not trying to make you guys panic or anything. Like kaye1der, when I spoke to Kathy a couple weeks ago I was told they were trying to make final decisions by mid-march, which would be now. They must be in the process of notifying.
By the way, Kahr, I believe we interviewed the same day, 12/5. You had the glasses correct? Hope we all hear good news... EDIT: since people usually like to know how, my AADSAS portal status was changed to waitlisted last friday. |

I'm glad you at least got waitlisted, better than a rejection by far. I hope we hear some more news soon, I'm anxious to get this over with one way or the other.Who were you by the way? |

At least you guys received the news. I am still in the dark! Last year, as I heard from someone on the forum, the copy machine broke and couldn't get rejection letters out on time. I hope that's not the case!!!! I'm trying very hard to be optimistic but it's getting harder and harder everyday. I waited several months, I can wait for 2-3 more days!!! Cross fingers for all of you. UW is awesome and it will be such an honor to be a part of their dental school!!!!!!!!!!!!

I called on Friday. Kathy said the committee was going to meet in two weeks and it was hopefully going to be the last time. So anyone waiting still (like me) will hear then. They have filled the class so any news now will either be wait list or a rejection.

I've heard of the pre-matriculation program...but I don't know anything about it except that it exists. I haven't quite gotten any of my official paperwork, so maybe that's why I don't know anything about it. Could someone fill me in?

Hi, this is from an email from Memory Brock, the Pre-Mat program coordinator:
Just a reminder, if you are interested please drop me an email soon. Memory Brock Hello incoming School of Dentistry Students. My name is Memory Brock and I am the Program Manager for the Office of Educational Partnerships and Diversity at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. This letter is to tell you about our Pre-Matriculation Program (details below) which takes place this summer here at our school. I am hopeful you will look it over and consider attending. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to meeting you in person soon. Memory Brock, Program Manager University of Washington SOD International Doctor of Dental Surgery Program Office of Educational Partnerships and Diversity 1959 NE Pacific Street ~ Box 356365 Seattle, WA 98195-6365 206-685-7309 Prematriculation (PreMat) Program A Summer Enrichment Program for Students Transitioning Into Medical And Dental School Each summer, the Office of Educational Partnerships and Diversity in the School of Dentistry, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs in the School of Medicine sponsors a Prematriculation Program (PreMat) for entering medical and dental students from educationally or financially disadvantaged backgrounds. The goal of the program is to facilitate students’ transition to medical or dental school by providing academic and social support. PreMat is especially helpful to students who have been away from an intensive academic program, because it provides a preview of the medical and dental school environment and curriculum. The major course of study during the program is Histology. Students receive intensive histology instruction for five weeks and take a challenge exam at the end of the five weeks. Students who pass will receive credit for HuBio 510 (Histology) in the fall. Program Activities & Schedule Histology lectures are held daily in the morning; a lab with organized review and tutorial sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday in the early afternoon. Other activities include: sessions on study and test-taking skills, stress management; health disparities, service learning; and meetings with school deans, counselors curriculum managers, and current medical and dental students. There are occasional evening and weekend sessions. Cost & Housing There are no tuition costs to participate in the Prematriculation program. PreMat participants are responsible for required texts and their room and board while in Seattle. Faculty Histology instruction is given by faculty from the UW Departments of Biological Structure and Physiology. Second-year medical and dental students serve as teaching assistants and facilitate the lab and tutorial sessions. Networking As mentioned above, there are no tuition costs for participating in this program. In exchange, we expect that PreMat participants will network with the pre-med/pre-dental undergraduate and the high school students who are participating in our other summer enrichment programs - the Summer Medical/Dental Education Program (SMDEP) and the UDOC high school program. There will be scheduled networking sessions as well as a session with Dr. Acosta on good networking skills. Program Dates The 2012 Prematriculation Program will be held from June 18th through July 20th, 2012. Sessions will be held at the University of Washington Magnusson Health Sciences Center in Seattle. Attendance is required at all sessions. Participants should expect to spend six or more hours a day in sessions. We highly discourage students from being involved in employment or other outside activities during the five weeks of the program. Eligibility Students who have been accepted to the University Of Washington School Of Medicine or School of Dentistry, who come from economically and/or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds, or who have spent a significant time away from academic study, are encouraged to apply. To Apply Submit a letter of application by May 18th 2012. In your letter please: 1) state that you are interested in participating in the 2012 PreMat Program; 2) state how you would benefit from participating, 3) state what you feel you can contribute to your peers in the program, and 4) describe how you can contribute to networking with undergraduate and high school students who are interested in health care professions. Address and mail your letter to: Dr. Beatrice Gandara University of Washington School of Dentistry Office of Educational Partnerships and Diversity Box 356365 1959 NE Pacific St. Seattle, WA 98195 Alternatively, you may send a letter of application electronically to Dr. Beatrice Gandara @ bgandara@uw.edu please include a cc to Memory Brock , Dental Pre-Mat Program Coordinator @ memoryb@uw.edu . For further information please Contact Memory Brock 206-685-7309 ; memoryb@uw.edu REMEMBER: THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THE 2012 PREMAT PROGRAM IS MAY 18, 2012 |

Yes. I already sent my email/letter a week ago, since Memory wrote to "drop her an email soon" instead of waiting close to the May 18th due day. Good luck!
