Hey guys, long time lurker here who's applying this year and just looking for some feedback on school list and prep up to this point. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Heres a quick rundown:

NC resident at a state school
B.S. Biochemistry/ B.A. Chemistry

3.91 GPA/ 3.93 BCPM GPA
34Q MCAT

2 years Physiology research (cell signalling mostly)

2 years Volunteer EMT-B (900-ish hours)
1 summer hospital volunteer (80 hours)
Literacy tutor (30 hours)
Free clinic volunteer (20 hours)

Shadowing: cardiologist and a variety of primary care physicians (40 hours)

3 years Ski/Snowboard Club team officer (vice-president then president)
this was honestly like running a small business (i.e. too many hours)

Now the list:
UNC-CH
ECU-Brody
Wake Forest
UVA
Emory
Dartmouth
Brown
Vandy
Duke
U of Colorado
Ohio state
Georgetown
Stanford (for fun)

Thanks for your time!

You've got some great schools there, and you are a competitive applicant, but you might want to consider some more backup schools. Tons of competitive applicants don't get accepted to schools they "should be" for whatever reason. This happened to a friend of mine this year. Just a thought!

I think that Georgetown would probably prefer to see more extensive community service to those in need, but otherwise, I think your list is fine. Consider USC if you'd love to live in California (and ski slopes are close by), and maybe Case if your research is sufficiently substantive. I think you could include a couple more dream schools besides.

If you could add another ten hours of shadowing, that would be nice to see.

Thanks for the input guys! Yea after seeing the list on paper, I'll probably add a few more backup schools, it's just hard wanting to apply to all those schools and having to replace a couple of them with backups due to funds, but I'll definitely replace a couple of those with some backup schools.

Also, USC would be awesome (mammoth/tahoe like 6 hours away i think?), I have it favorited on my MSAR just didn't include it in the list for some reason.

I think that Big Bear is only two hours away.
