I have a friend who currently has a 4.0 and is finishing up his sophomore year and he tells me that he never knew about http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/. My mind is blown right now

Do people really not know about it? lol it's such an amazing website, literally guarantees that you'll get a good teacher & grade if you don't be an idiot.

I don't know about your uni, but most of the time you can email a professor if you can get into his class, even if it's full.

We have a school independent run website showing every course that was taught and each teacher for the course. Shows the grade breakdown of how many people got what grade. Also has anonymous reviews about all the professors. Ratemyprofessor fails in comparison to that.

Here's an example of our orgo lab:

This is incredible. Does your school actually give them access to their class information to know grades?

Way better than ratemyprofessor. I found that ratemyprofessor is really university dependent as far as quality goes. For some schools, there's a lot of great, thorough reviews on pretty much the majority of professors. At others, there are barely any reviews around, and the ones that are present suck.

Yeah, this website is run by the alumni, students, and professors of the university. It's separate from the university but teachers and alumni keep it going. Teachers can release their grades on this website. Probably over 95% have their grades and averages released.

When I was in undergrad, the easy profs (such they be - GT is a proud grade deflation school) always filled up before my registration window opened. Looking at that site was just depressing.

Two of the best professors I've ever had have pretty questionable reviews on RMP. Take what you read on there with a grain of salt. Upset students are much more likely to post than satisfied ones, so I've found there can sometimes be very high concentrations of pissy, lazy students taking out their anger/unfairly blaming a prof about a poor grade that they deserved.

www.myedu.com is another good site... I'm not sure how many universities it has data for. For my university, you can look up courses and it will show the breakdown of grades given by each professor that taught the course (if it has the available data). I'm assuming it has data for most larger universities.

A hidden gem at my school is that if you search for "grade distribution" on our homepage, you can find pdfs with grade breakdowns for every class for every semester the last 5 or so years. I'd estimate ~5% of people know of this.

Good lord that's amazing. Wishing I had that right now man. I LOVE ratemyprof, but only problem is that sometimes idiot students will get mad about their grades and then go neg a good teacher. Only thing i really want is the information on how many students got A's in previous semesters, that'll usually give you a rough guesstimate(wtf guesstimate is a word? LOL) on how good a teacher is.

Is this much information available for a large number of universities? I've never seen this before. I also agree that it's quite annoying when someone rants about how awful and difficult a professor is when you know it's about 99% the student's fault for getting the grade they received. If you can sift through that, RMP is a great resource.
