Unhappy Existential Crisis

SDN Members don't see this ad. (About Ads)
So Im applying to DO school this cycle and Im starting to freak out a little bit. I'm trying to keep a positive outlook but I cant stop stressing over it.
Heres my stats:
cgpa3.4
sgpa 3.1
I take the mcat may 24
EC's:
I was the treasurer and vice president of a medical oriented club
I have done research with the university, presenting at two medical conferences and attending another two.
90 hrs shadowing a Derm and ENT (both DO's)
I went to EMT school but have not worked in the field
I worked at a medical clinic in Namibia for 2 months (greatest time ever)
100 hours volunteering in the ER at a local hospital
I received good LOR
I also worked as a biologist at an aquarium in Florida for 2 and a half years (random I know but I figured it couldn't hurt).

Besides my low sgpa I had to retake calc 3 times:/ I got a C- the first two times I took it but I got an A the third time. Im really afraid that its going to really hurt my application

DO schools look at the last retake. so they will only look at the A. AMCAS doesn't do it like this but AACOMAS does. Whatever classes you have retaken will have the most recent retake grade (assuming it is the exact same class).

It's definitely going to come down to your MCAT. Try to gun for the high 20s. Sorry to put a lot of pressure on ya but come back and update us once you get your score.

26+ mcat will definitely get you multiple interviews. DO schools dont use math to calculate sGPA

Calculate your GPA after yo take that into consideration. I think you would stand a high chance at a DO.
