Default Just wanted to say, the whole "small school" approach means crap.

I don't see the benefit of going to one, considering they really don't spend that much time to work with you on situations.

I would question their small time "atmosphere" during the interview, because they really don't care about their students.

Define small school... are we talking about private schools? Less than how many students? What is the criteria?

It is my understanding that the newer "diploma mill" schools most often have high tuition and care for just the $$$ of their students' wallets, hence they never kick anyone out.

I'd never thought about class size before. I figure most schools had about 100 +/- 20 in each level (P1, P2, etc).

Did they kick you out or hold you back?

Sorry either way.

I don't understand why you think you should be allowed to move on after failing a class? Isn't that how it's always worked??

Most schools have some sort of remediation process...he says with this school, if you fail one class, you repeat the entire year... I think it's strange to not offer a second chance so to speak for just one class. But, you should know the school policy going in.

Not my school, and I'm in the top 10...you fail one, you go back. You fail 2, you are DONE.

Students get held back because each class is only offered once per yr and is usually a pre-req for another class.

You are in professional school...why are you failing classes?

The students who fail classes are either really lazy or really stupid.

Yes ma'am

I just wanted to express my displeasure at being called either really lazy or really stupid, that's all.

Life happens. We can't all be gunners. There are some people in my class failing therapeutics and med chem right now. They'll have to retake the year if they fail. No remediation for those classes. Had a classmate remediate ID first year- he had to take a comprehensive final that was 10x harder than ours. Another decided to drop out because he had four kids and a full time job...he wasn't lazy at all. One got sick and got held back a year.

I can see what Karm is saying though. some people are total slackers. I HATE doing group work with them. They skate by doing the minimum and the rest of us pick up their slack so we don't get dinged on our grade. It's lame.

The worse part about this is the fact that this is why socialism is impossible!! Freaking slackers make utopia impossible!

This is obviously a rage post, no need to explain this one. But next time you feel this way, back it up with something other than "they don't care." You do realize you just bashed your own school on an open forum, right?

I had a longer post originally but I don't think more needs to be said...

You should attend the school that will make you happiest. Sometimes you will need to make sacrifices for this goal, that's ok. Spend more, live a little. You only go through college as an undergrad once. When talking about pharmacy school, it's a different story.

Many economists would argue that this attitude is causing America to go down a very dangerous road. But hey - that's a whole different topic..

Spend less, play it safe, and later you will be able to live it up all you want. There are two sides to this coin.

Attending happy school = happy pharmacist

Attending angry school = angry pharmacist

Kinda true but sarcasm aside. You are investing a TON of money so go wherever makes you happy (within reason)...granted you get accepted there first.
