http://dus.psu.edu/handbook/grades.html

the professors decide what an A is. Could be like >60% = A (organic chem) or up to >94% = A.

90% - 4.0
80% - 3.0
70% - 2.0
60% - 1.0
50% - l.ol

If I had OP's grading scale I'd be getting a lot better sleep these days. I'm a college senior at a public institution and have yet to experience this majestic "curve" everyone speaks of.

I set the curve (max) for Gen Chem 2.

It was 85%.

And major props to your schools "Xtra Fail" option if you get caught cheating.

Wow, the OP's institution's grading scale is phenomenal. Mine is as follows:

A = 93-100 = 4.0
A- = 90-92 = 3.7
B+ = 87-89 = 3.3
B = 83-86 = 3.0
B- = 80-82 = 2.7
C+ = 77-79 = 2.3
C = 73-76 = 2.0
C- = 70-72 = 1.7

PSU doesn't do us many favors when applying. Its a great school, but their grading policies can seriously deflate a GPA.

Some of these sound pretty inflationary...no offense.

Mine was
4.0 - 93%+
3.7 - 90%+
3.3 - 83%+
3.0 - 80%+
2.7 - 73%
etc.

Also, these are pretty much what AMCAS adjusts GPAs to.

I feel your agony. My school doesn't use a +/- system, so if you get an 89.5% you still get the same 3.0 as, say, someone with an 81%. My gpa would have translated much better if this wasn't the case.

Unfortunately, I have never had a curve in any of my classes
