Hi, I did it working full time. It was absolutely the most challenging thing Ive ever done. Something must give when doing this. Relationships, friends, and/or personal time. I took ochem 2 and Bio2 with labs. I can tell you. I was not a happy camper. It was almost impossible to do unless u can 1. live off no sleep 2. be extremely determined. You might try going to a community college or a " lesser private college" to get yourself the grade . I went to a big university and it was totally brutal.

I did not do this (I was pre-med, but it's the same track as pre-dent). I quit my job before I started my post-bacc and spent the time taking 2 courses at a time with volunteer work. This was night classes at Harvard Extension, so my days were free. I knew a few people who were working full time when taking the same classes. Many of them eventually quit their job or withdrew from the classes because they were doing poorly. I'm sure it can be done, but how confident are you with your science abilities? And how willing are you to lose a year if you have to withdraw from a course? For me, it was a one-shot deal and I couldn't risk bad grades.
I would not recommend going to a community college. I've emailed admissions committees at various schools before deciding to go to Harvard Extension and they said taking the core sciences at community colleges were looked down upon. |
