haha, so true. Possibly loss of blood flow to their hands interfering with fine motor skills?

Yay!
I told my boss yesterday that I want to quit July 13th, but that I didn't think I would be able to until July 20th (an extra $700 can really help!). He told me to just work 20 hours of overtime over the next few weeks to make up for the missing paycheck.
SWEET!

I have a good job that I worked my butt off to get, so I can't really apologize for it . I do however, completely understand how that probably made you feel. Before this job I would have wanted to smack me too . I'm also slightly older and have had more time to get relevant experience and move up. What do you care anyway? You're gonna be a rich vet!

And I have been working for this same company for 7 YEARS!!! I deserve a little more pay...

Whatever. I am leaving soon anyway.

Nope. No need to apologize. Just feeling underpaid, as usual. You deserve to be paid as much as you get paid.

That stinks! Being underappreciated is the worst! I definitely don't take my company's kindness for granted. They are known for how good they treat their employees. Gotta love pharmaceuticals!
Like I said, before this job, I was underpaid for years, so i'm definitely thankful and understand how you feel! I bet you can't WAIT to move onto the next chapter of your life! It's gonna be so exciting!!!

I have an acceptance (and deferral) so I have a whole year to enjoy my sweet job and time in Seattle, and I NEVER HAVE TO APPLY TO VET SCHOOL AGAIN! I need to soak up all this peace of mind and save it to ration out during vet school and the subsequent years of debt...

And! We just had a paper published in Nature Neuroscience! And we have another one coming out as soon as histology is complete! I backed out of a PhD program to work in this lab and I haven't regretted it for one second.

Since I'm staying here for another year, I'm looking for a house (to rent) with my boyfriend and we're gonna have a yard! and get chickens! We found our dream place but they want a sooner move-in than we wanted, leaving us stuck paying rent on three places (our current places and the new place). We could swing it but it'll be tough. But I cleaned out my closet today and found $600 in savings bonds and I looked over my lease and I only need to give 20 days notice, not 30! Plus I can work the holiday and get 1.5x pay on top of getting paid for the usual hours So excited that we can really do this!

And the last thing--I've finally defeated the flea infestation of doom. My beautiful allergic-to-fleas kitty has all her hair back and is looking gorgeous! (Yes, my phone exists mostly to instragram cat photos.)

That's a lot of gushing, but this is the rave thread for a reason

That is wonderful news (the kitty, vet school, and job)! Your cat is gorgeous. My cat is now my avatar and yes my instagram is also mostly just for pet photos.

Awwww, what a gorgeous kitty! Love that picture.

My cat is unable to hold still long enough for any good pictures of her awake, but I have lots of pictures of her sleeping, nuzzled up next to my parents' cat, who always looks thisclose to telling her to get away except he'd have to move to do that.

I'm currently rehabilitating a Florida Cooter for the Turtle Rehab Team at our CVM. I've had her for about a week but finally had the chance yesterday to go out and buy her a kiddie pool to stay in (instead of the bin she's been in). She seems to like the extra room but be rather overwhelmed by all the space . Here's the beautiful girl, she looks like she's smiling

It has been a whirlwind of a weekend, but I'm finally finally married Now enjoying some peace and quiet for a few minutes thanks to my lovely sister who got us a night at a bed and breakfast because we don't have time for a full honeymoon. I can elaborate later, but it was quite a memorable wedding, if I do say so myself.

Yay! Congratulations! I'm sure you were stunning. Hope everything went ok with the fam! Glad to hear it was memorable!
My cousin's wedding last year had a stir fry station that caught on fire. I mean the whole table went up in flames. We had to spray the fre hydrant all over everyone's food and evacuate the hotel for an hour ... that was memorable
Don't forget... we want pictures of your cake!

I really need to rave some more about my bf. People here probably think he's a horrible person because I only ever post in the rant thread.

Instead of using all the old and broken furniture we have now, we're going shopping for our bedroom in the new house this week. He already found a bed that he thinks I would love, so we're gonna go look at that, and then find all the other things.

(:

Hahah fortunately the fires were contained! Everything went smoothly... The cakes showed up, flowers were beautiful, families didn't feud (an important one for his side of the family because they have been arguing for years now, but they seemed to be over it at the wedding), and we got to meet parts of each others' family that we hadn't met before. Also, a friend of ours gave him (because he was the original Steelers fan... I only followed suit) a football that he had signed by Hines Ward when he met him recently!

This weekend has been absolutely amazing! It's the first time I've been home in a couple of months and has just been so much fun. I've spent time with my family, seen friends that I hadn't seen in years, enjoyed some awesome food! I saw my ex who I hadn't seen since we broke up (6 years ago) and it was so good to see him. He's doing well, about to start law school, and engaged to the girl he's been dating for the last few years. I saw my piano man who just makes me so happy with his musical talent. I'm about to go have breakfast with one of my closest friends - the last time I'll see her before she moves to Cuba. The only thing that could make it better were a temperature below 100 and my best friend.

Got a call back about the job. He'd still be willing to give it to me. Going to the vet school tomorrow to talk about it and meet the people I would work with. Super excited!

Congrats! That's so exciting. I've been getting really nervous for my wedding. At least we're just dealing with finishing up the little details right now. I hope it runs as smoothly as yours seems to have.

Yeah, definitely be prepared for something to not be the way you had planned, but have fun! The whole "snapshot" idea from The Office episode with Jim and Pam's wedding is actually really good advice because it goes by so quickly!!

Yea, I gotta be honest, I was extremely upset when I saw the voice mail. Even more than I was when hearing/thinking I didn't get the job.

What should I wear though tomorrow? Would khakis with a polo shirt be ok?

I'm really nervous. I've never been paid for a job like that. Usually I do it for free. Hahaha. Much more pressure now.

Today was lovely. I lounged around, put some ribs in the crockpot, and read the rest of my Sookie Stackhouse book. In my PJs. It was splendid.
