Default Surgery Clerkship books

What books are good for the surgery rotation? I want to do well, of course, but I'm not interested in a surgery residency, so I don't need to really wow anyone.

I have Surgical Recall, but it's from 2002. Should I get a newer edition, or has surgery not changed that much (at the MS-3 level, anyway)?

Recall kind of sucks....it's good for pimp questions, but not good for the shelf.

Search previous threads for more answers.

I used nms casebook, nms textbook (a bit of an overkill), pestana notes. Uworld, Appleton and Lange and pretest. I also read pertinent chapters of step up to med (GI, endocrine, etc)

Agree, recall is good for pimp questions only.

Pestana + NMS (case files or text) + UW will get you there.

I've heard that NMS casebook is the best for rotations and recall for pimping

I third that NMS casebook was the best thing I found for the board. We used case files and pretest for class, neither were that spectacular. I had FA for the clerkship, it was OK. Used recall between cases.

For the shelf - casebook +uworld. And if you're really balling, SU2M. There's a lot more medicine on there than minute surgery details.

Dear Father,
You have placed me in this world as a doctor with a plan for my life. I have seen the possibilities. I now hold [my life] up to you. Take it and begin the change in me. Give me the insight and determination to follow through and become the Christian doctor you have created me to be - by your power, with your wisdom, and for your glory. Amen

I was thinking of selling back my Rohen's Anatomy Atlas. Is it at all useful for surgery? I suspect not, but just wanted to make sure.

Lightbulb First Aid

I've heard that FA for Surg is pretty good, especially since NMS is often derided as "out of date." Any thoughts from those of you who have already done Surg rotation? Also considering Essentials of Gen Surg by Lawrence...
