What dental schools don't require a waxing class?

I'm just curious if anyone knows what dental schools don't require the students to take a waxing class. I heard that one of the florida schools doesn't teach it, so I'm curious if there are any others that don't either.

Not required at any dental schools in the US. Handy for dentistry lab school.

Every recent grad I've talked to did wax ups...am I misunderstanding the question? I thought this was pretty standard across the country

Well most schools do wax ups. Not sure if its ever been called waxing class lol

Western doesn't make us take a class on it. We've waxed a few things here and there, but never for a grade - just for the experience or as part of another project we're working on.

hmm I assumed the OP was talking about pre-req classes because this section of the forum is dedicated to pre-dents. That makes more sense now hhaha WAXING CLASS

Ok. I was just wondering. I did the sim lab at the UNLV dental school last weekend, and they are required their first semester to take a waxing class. It seems like kind of a waste of time to me. We won't really have to do any waxing as a practicing dentist.

Western is the only schools I've heard about who doesn't do a whole lot of it. It probably wasn't a whole lot of fun if it was your first time. It might never be fun. But expect to do it. I hear it's good for learning anatomy, morphology, dexterity, etc. It's not a complete wast of time. Some of those skills will be used later. How much waxing you do it depends on the program. Same goes for doing other lab work in general.
