Default Can applying early hurt?

Hey everyone

So I was telling a friend of mine that I wanted to submit my application in the next day or two, and I told them that since I consider myself an "okay" applicant (nothing spectacular unfortunately) that I wanted to give myself the chance to get any interviews I can get. 3.5 gpa, 3.3 science gpa, 19 AA, 19 TS..

Basically, my friend's reasoning was that applying early puts me up against all the "gunners" and I'll be compared to them, which hurts my chances. Is this true?? Thanks so much for your help everyone! And please don't bring me down too much with my stats, I'm already stressed as it is lol.

applying early helps your application more than anything.

applying later will put you up against a greater applicant pool, and your file will be less attractive as more top apps are submitted.

Applying early won't hurt. Applying late, on the other hand, won't help.
