28 schools?
SO MANY SECONDARIES!!! I don't even want to think about it yet.
Wait it only takes 3 days? It says it takes 2 weeks...

I'm gonna apply for FAP now.

Yeah definitely agree. I was thinking that too. That was the case for the Bio section on the test I took too.

I only applied to 7 schools which are all in State
I am pretty sure if I don't have a shot at any of my In-State schools then I don't have a shot anywhere else so I just decided to save the money and apply to only In-State schools

I'm pretty much finished with my Amcas and I should be able to submit it in a few days. Should I wait until i get my MCAT back and see if it's a good score before submitting? Or just submit it and go through with the application regardless and just reapply next year if I dont get accepted? I'm just not sure how well I did on this test. Basically I dont want to have to reapply if it's majorly disadvantageous. Will ~10 days make a huge difference?

What if i submitted and cancelled before verification if the score is bad? Will I still count as reapplicant?

Wow, good job on starting to study! now I feel really bad about the last 3-4 weeks I've been wasting
I really should be studying because I'm going to have to go on vacation again in the beginning of August with my cousins, my parents already booked my tickets

If you are that worried, don't submit yet.

No strongly disagree. Submit ASAP. The longer you wait the more spots that fill.

It is ten days. I would understand if it was a month, then I would say submit. Ten days is not going to add that many days to verification.

If he submits and then decides his scores are not good enough, he will be considered a re-applicant. That doesn't exact make it easier to get into medical schools.

Hi guys. Long time lurker here. Been here since early May, but finally registered. I thought this exam was reasonable (I'm pretty confident I scored over 12 in both PS & BS, but I felt like a 6 on the verbal), So, I decided to sign up for the 7/14 and retake without even knowing my scores. Verbal was much much easier for the 7/14, which is a relief, but the sciences were twice as tough...we also got a wall of text hard Bio passage very, very similar to the 6/21 exam one, which makes me think it is some sort of experimental passage (the topic of the passage was exactly the same, it was like dejavu). Lastly, now I realize, AAMC is notorious for bringing up obscure content up on the exams, stuff that wasn't even in TBR or EK... oh well, we have a week!!!!

yep waiting on two MCATs....I figured waiting for the June MCAT scores to come out would be too late to start restudying everything again...so, I studied for 2.5 additional weeks to make sure I would have a good chance this application cycle.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with being a re-applicant, as long as your reason for being a re-applicant is because of the MCAT.

No offense bro, but this is probably one of the worst decisions I've ever seen on this mcat forum. You think you got a 12/6/12 and retook before your actual score came out? Do you not realize how bad people feel post-test, only to realize that they score like 5 or so points higher than their prediction?

What if your first score comes back and you got a 34, but then the second one comes back and you got a 28? What are you going to do?

I would understand if you absolutely bombed verbal. As in, you didn't finish a few passages or randomly guessed on like 15 questions, but you didn't say this was the case. If it was, then an immediate retake sounded logical.

Now though you said the second one might have been easier and you might have scored better, then consider yourself lucky. But the move in general was not smart at all.

Hopefully your second score is better than your first. Good luck.

So would you have waited? If I would have waited for the scores to come out on July 24, I would have forgotten a lot of the stuff and I would have had to study for at least another month, making September 1, my test date, which is already too late.

I kinda knew I hadn't scored well, because tbh, I consistently scored 8's on my AAMC's (English isn't my first language is my excuse ), and the 6/21 verbal felt much more difficult. I did guess on the last passage...All C's, so I knew my chances to score well were pretty poor.

I'd hate to say it but I was also pretty shocked that you took the MCAT again before knowing your other score. That was pretty bold. I don't think it was a good idea either. I sure hope you did better on the second one because if you did worse that will be really difficult to explain.

I have lowered my standards. I just want at least a 9 in VR. Is that too much to ask of the universe?

Second time test taker here.

Took my first one last summer, didn't study a single day because I was working 50 hours a week at my job and was always exhausted and got a 11/9/10 30Q.

Retook this year (8am, June 21) and gave myself 3 weeks to study when I was only taking a 30 hr/wk class, and it definitely made a difference.

PS: I graduated with a Physics degree with a 3.95 gpa, and after brushing up on PChem and the (annoying) algebraic approach to MCAT Physics (as opposed to Calc-based), I can confidently say I got a 13-14

VR: I was actually surprised how straightforward this section was this time around. Maybe it was because my confidence was up or I was more focused but I thought it went better than usual. Sure, some of the passages were really hard to get through, but I was able to find support from the passage for 90%+ of the answers. Of course there were the vague ones but oh well. I've always averaged a 10 on VR but am thinking I got at least an 11.

BS: A little more difficult in my opinion, but had plenty of time to go through each passage and be confident with my answers. Without going into detail there really isn't much to say. I would guess that I got a 12-13 on that section (it always seems to be one point below my BS).

Overall I feel/felt pretty good about this test. I knew every discrete, and every passage seemed to make sense. I'm really hoping for a 36+ this time around.

Just one more week (at most)!

Lol is it just me, or is everyone on here averaging insane scores? Was I the only one averaging in the upper 20s to 30?

Nope, you are not alone. I'm in the same boat. Praying for a 28+ with nothing lower than a 9 on any section.

Ok good to know it sometimes seems like everyone on here has a 4.0 and a 39 mcat, it's nice to see that there are still humans applying! Lol

How are you guys planning to calm the nerves before checking the scores?

Go to sleep late and wake up late on the day of release. Hopefully I can avoid that four hour period of pure agony.

For those of you not already registered for a retake, what are your plans if you're score just doesn't cut it?
I think I would just accept the fact I'm not applying this year and take a gap year. Is anyone else in the same boat?

I would expect "doesn't cut it" varies from person to person. Personally, anything below a 29 wouldn't suffice. What is it you would do if you don't earn a score you would feel comfortable applying with? And if retake, then when?

I'd debate taking the year off and doing a post-bacc or something similar, traveling, or just working in a hospital. The weakest part of my app is that I don't have that "400,000 millenia of hospital work" line that some schools get moist over.

Haha, if the score's low, I could always shotgun all my top dream schools and cut out all the "settle" schools. If I get in on the strength of the rest of my app, great! If not, then I'd retake and apply next year...just like I would plan to do anyway.

I don't really buy the whole "if you failed to get in once, it's harder to get in the second time around," especially if it's the MCAT score that's holding you back.
agreed 100%

That all sounds reasonable. So is it safe to say you're not even considering a retake for this cycle with a sub-32 score?

If my score doesn't cut it, then I'm going to pick myself up, dust myself off, and try again next year. In addition to restudying for the MCAT and making sure I kill it the next time around, I would add some EC's to my application and continue with the long-standing ones I'm currently in. That can only help me.

I feel great about my application in general, in every arena BUT the MCAT. This test is a beast that leaves you completely unsettled after taking it.

Just got my AACOMAS app verified, submitted 6/28. However, I dont think it'll be released to the school that I applied until next week. AACOM said they release apps every Tues morning only, is that true?

My first post--after lurking in this thread since the 22nd. AAMC in order taken # 3 - 10,10,10 (30) 4 - 9, 14, 12 (35) 7 - 10, 11,11 (32) 8 - 11, 14, 12 (37) Taking the practice exams, I never had any idea how I did. After taking the real exam, I feel pretty confident that I scored somewhere between a 22 and a 41. Am I alone in that I can't remember anything, questions or passages, from the exam? Did I suffer PTSD? Should I talk about that in my PS?
