I can't wait to move. :x

I suppose it helps that I'm familiar (nay - in love with) Blacksburg and the surrounding area, as I've lived there for the past 4 years of my life. But at home, with my family and my future in-laws living right around the corner, I'm torn between spending time with two families and it's a tremendous amount of pressure to put on a girl. x.x On the one hand I want to get to know my in-laws more; on the other, this is the last time I'll be living in my parent's house. That last part wouldn't bother me if not for the fact that it bothers my parents (who, of course, are torn between "Finally, she's moving on with her life" and "Oh god, she's moving on with her life!!"). And because of my awkward work shift, I hardly ever see them (and my teenage siblings - never; they're always out with friends), so the choice often comes down to do I spend these few hours with my in-laws or my family?

My mom broke down and cried the other day because I spent an afternoon at the gardens in which I'm getting married with my future mother-in-law rather than her, and I cried right along with her because I did not realize she missed me so much.

SO all this to say, getting out of here and back to cozy little Blacksburg with my one livingspace is something I am very much looking forward to.

And it certainly helps that we're using a wedding registry to furnish the place.

I was in a similar situation. I moved back in with my parents after graduating from undergrad. The fiance moved in with me. His parents live in the same town though. So we had to divide time between them. It would have been fairly easy except that his dad worked the same hours as my parents (his mom doesn't work). We spent a lot of time during the day (when my siblings were sleeping and my parents were at work) with his family. Most evenings we spent with mine. But we had to go over there some evenings to make sure to spend time with his dad. It was just exhausting to make it work for everyone. I'm glad to be settling in to my own home, even if it is across the country. I would love to be closer to family, but I chose the school farthest away because it was the best fit.

I totally agree about the wedding registry stuff. That's what we did. Well we mostly got the little things: towels, dishes, shower curtains , and the like. We did get some nice kitchen tools, but the furniture we'll have to get on our own (most of the cash we got went into moving us across the country).

So my mom is an HR director and used to administer this MBTI test. When I told her about my results and that I was diagnosed with a Godzilla-like personality, she said 'No honey, you're a SCIENTIST!!'.

lol. Seriously love her.

So don't feel like an a-hole, Emiloo. We're SCIENTISTS (or vets, whatev).

haha the sad part is that I don't really care that I'm an A-hole. It's who I am I guess(if we let tests define us)

I think when I did that test, I had a LOT of needy people at work that day. So anytime the word "sensitive" and "sympathetic" came up, I chose opposite words like logical and crap like that. Damn needy people! Messing up my inner psyche.

I was so freakin split on the "planned and organized" or "spontaneous and flexible" questions because I truly feel completely split based on the context of the situation.

There's an MBTI thread from a couple years back on the forum (oh, here it is) where we found that SDNers are like, half INTJ/P, which is quite rare in the general population but apparently more prevalent in vet med. There's also a harry potter quiz. (:

There were a lot of questions that I know I would have answered differently if I had been in a different mood that day. I wonder if that affects it?
I mean, I already know I'm an A-hole, but am I a "sensing" A-hole or an "intuition" A-hole? I must know!!!!

I have to admit I've kinda been lurking on this thread. I have been identifying with much of what y'all have been freaking out about, but I just am in a kind of going to vet school denial stage. "If I don't post on class of 2016 thread then it's not real..."
I mean, I'm happy to be going, but it feels surreal. I'm terribly unprepared, like no supplies or books. I don't really have the cash to go school shopping yet because the move is sucking up all our money. I'm guessing it will feel more real once I get to Blacksburg (in exactly 2 weeks! eek!)
I had to take those personality tests as well. I scored really high on being a judger, control freak type as well, which is why this is all so mysterious. Where is my type A-ness when I need it?

My stethoscope came today!! My mom picked the color for me (either Caribbean or Raspberry) and I must say that I'm very happy with the Raspberry.

I'm totally with you guys on being an A-hole, I am so a INTJ it's not even funny.

"Anyone considered to be "slacking," including superiors, will lose their respect -- and will generally be made aware of this..." *coughDr.Bcough*

Anyone else have the whole, poor communication with co-workers, excellent communication with clients issue? I am so straightforward I just end up offending people left and right...

Edit: Oh and on the stethoscope front, WHEN I get in I will have raspberry. I have already decided.

I just shelled out the money for Dyce the other day and wanted to cry. Was also totally planning on using my loan money for the microscope until I realized the form/money was due the 30th... Bye bye like 1.5 pay checks.

Hmm, I feel like I need to take one of these personality tests. I did one a long time ago in high school, but haven't really done one since. I don't really think I'm a full blown Type A cause I'm really laid back and kind of go with the flow for most things, but do a lot of stressing but more on a subconscious level. I don't think I generally let it show too much. Does everyone just use the Meyers-Briggs test?

I don't know whether Oregon State is going to have us take personality tests or not. But you all were talking about it so much that I decided to find a Myers Briggs online and take it myself. One site told me I'm ESFP and another said I'm ESTJ. I guess that's what I get for relying on online quizzes..

I think I was told I was INFJ, but I'm not sure it's entirely accurate since many of the questions, it's not a straight nor or yes for me. And I also get all distracted while taking them and can't focus for whatever reason. Hahaha.

Anyone else annoyed by spending a ton of money this early in the summer? I had my whole summer perfectly budgeted... and then I realized I owe Penn $400 for a microscope, $25 for a dissection kit, etc, etc, etc.

So much for my shore vacation....

Yup. Especially since I don't have like anything saved (not from lack of trying). Buying a computer before my loans come in essentially will wipe out my account. I think my parents are going to have to pay for it and then I'll write them a check once the loan money comes in...

Yeah... I have like no money to my name. Seriously... like $100 that isn't budgeted for rent or basic living stuff. Books and such are going to be put off until reimbursement, because I quite seriously CANNOT buy it now.

The reality of vet school starting soon is really not gonna hit me now, look what I just got

Took the little tyke in to stabilize her for another rehabber who is new and was nervous because she isn't doing well. She was kept in a dog carrier for 2 days by his finder, outside with no heat and she was soaking wet, they were feeding her warm cow's milk . For now, I will just be enjoying my little tyke , nothing like a baby creature to brighten my day.

Oh I hear everyone about the no money. I saved up my first months rent money (WON'T be homeless, yay!), and was seriously wondering how Im going to eat for next week. Then got $40 for "commission" for my other job (highly underpaid, but now I can eat!!!)

Living Paycheck to paycheck

Yay for not being homeless TW!

And I echo y'all on not having money. It sucks and as i I'm having to make do on like $300 for the whole summer (rent and utilities included). I almost can't wait for disbursement so I can at least have SOMETHING in my bank account.

At least the job I have pays. Not much, but better than nothing.

We got our DISC assessments today, too. I started it because it seemed like fun. Then, I stopped. I don't like being allowed to only choose two words. And everything depends on the situation.

This sucks!

That reminds me of the time I found out someone's little sister had gotten a puppy that was too young to be separated from it's mom (oh irresponsible backyard breeders) and she was feeding it cow's milk and lunch meat .

There should be a question on the Myers-Briggs that asks how you'll feel if you don't get results of the test immediately

Oh and the whole space bags thing... mine did not end up as nice flat things, I overstuffed them and they turned into more like vacuum sealed balls
Rather counter productive.
