Question Navigating my Options

Hi,

I just graduated from Santa Clara University this year with a major in Sociology and minor in Public Health. I was diagnosed with a chronic illness first quarter freshman year which definitely muddled my freshman and sophomore year grades. Junior year, I had a family member have severe health issues which muddled my grades a bit again, however I ended senior year with A's and B's and a 2.76 GPA. I'm quite intelligent, but unfortunately external factors influenced my GPA more than I would have liked

I've read other forums regarding various other issues, but I was wondering if people know with a GPA this low what my options are regarding getting into a Masters of Public health program. Would it be better to get a bachelors of PH and then continue forward? Or would post-bac be an option? I read in another forum from a few years ago that a student with a 2.8 GPA had options, but I know each decimal point of the GPA seems to count for so much. Any tips or suggestions on moving forward would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

There is hope! I had a lower GPA and got into a few programs this year (only applied in CA). The main goal is to explain your low GPA and show to the admissions committees that you really do understand and have a passion for public health. Where are you looking to go to school, or do you just want to get into any school?
