This weekend I completed TBR ch1 for both phys and gen chem. I did ok in gen chem, but phys kicked my ass. I've also done about 6 passages in EK 101 Verbal. I start classes this week, so I'm trying to find a groove.

It the total opposite for me. I can lay in my bed all day and study.
I guess it takes some of the stress away.
When you are laying down you are relaxing so your parasympathetic system is working.
And when you are studying your sympathetic system SHOULD be on as well.
So when I lay down my parasympathetic system takes away some of the stress from the sympathetic system..

SN: I use to get parasympathetic and sympathetic confused.. then I remember parasympathetic is relaxing because para and Paris start with par and when you are in Paris you are relaxing OR para and pear sound the same and when you are eating a pear you are relaxing and your digestion system is working.

I think I am just not feeling too motivated maybe uninspired? I see people studying and feel damn I should study! But when I look at the mountain of stuff I need to study, I start feeling LAZAYYY lol! Hate myself right now
I find the library way too quiet and I love studying at home, but lately the bed seems way too cozy
Well back to my Chem for me!

I am 100% the opposite! Of course I have a little one at home, so the library is bliss to me. I can't study if I'm at home- I need the "study environment" that the library offers. Even a coffee house is too stimulating for me.

After sending out resumes I'm off to study! I think Ochem tonight.

So yeah...I studied all day from 9 to 5 with breaks inserted randomly. Was hoping to continue on after my run, but as soon I started eating, I decided I'm going to sleep early tonight and wake up early tomorrow. I've been going to sleep at 2AM and I kind of hate waking up late all the time. Plus, being on the west coast, I feel like you east coast people are leaps and bounds ahead of me. Dare I try for 6AM tomorrow?

Agreed. As Dave says, "Live like no one else, so later you can live like no one else."

Think of the MCAT as practice for the boards. This is just one of many exams you will take, so use it for setting up good study habits.

Gaaaaah organic chem reactions I finished Chad's orgo reaction videos today... now my brain is sad. I'm definitely going to need to spend some serious time on getting them down and making them actually stick.

On the upside, after non-stop orgo, I tried my first verbal passage and it was almost enjoyable since it wasn't in any way, shape or form chemistry related. So yay?

As far as where to study, I actually really like studying in my apartment, but doing that too many days in a row gets to be a bit much. I think I'll plan on going out to a library or cafe one or twice a week just so I don't go stir crazy!

Today is going to be a slow day for me, I did a verbal this morning and got 4/5 WRONG. I know it wasn't going to end well because I kept on thinking about other things ( I have really bad anxiety ) and I had a pounding tension headache ( due to bad anxiety).

I am going to finish Ch.7 questions and then do ch. 8.
I may do a little reading. I think I am just going to read books ( what ever is in my room) during the week and during the weekend do 3 verbal passages for now on.

So I didn't finish the questions to Ch.7 Nova Torque Chapter... that is my weak spot but in the book it did say this was the least important ch and if you don't understand it finish the book and come back to the chapter later on. Well I decided later on I will read the section in my Physics textbook.
I did finish Ch. 8 of Nova and begun reading Ch. 9 hopefully I finish tonite.
I decided I am going to go to the library and get a book to read to help my verbal. I will do verbal passages this Sunday hopeful, my tension headache will be gone by then, since I planning to break on Sat. It so strange I can study the sciences with a headache but my verbal takes a killing.

Keep it going, Jan. will be here in no time.

Yesterday didn't turn out how I expected. I ended up only studying for 3 hours. I'm doing the re-reading today. I listened to the EK Audio Osmosis first. That took 2.5 hours. Tomorrow should be the 1001 and 2nd 1/3rd problems. The SN2ed schedule is definitely a lot more difficult to do if you're doing other things with your day.

Aww don't let the anxiety get to you.. That was my downfall the first time, I was too worried about the outcome and it affected my concentration while reading those passages. Just do your best at understanding the passages and don't worry about how many questions you will get right or wrong. Anxiety affects concentration bigtime!

So I did 2 VR passages yesterday and got 6/6 and 7/7! Sooo happy to see some improvement, when I started I used to only get 3/7 or 4/7 at most, so I am excited!
Been working on my weaknesses more than my strength lately. I am starting late today and will work on some leftover gen chem question on stoichiometry from TPR book. Then 2 VR passages. And then Read ch-1 from EK bio.

Don't let that verbal get you down. It takes A lOT of practice to see score
Results for this section. As long as you keep working hard, you'll see changes. Don't let it affect your other sciences.

Honestly, just trying to focus the best I can and mapping the passage in my head. I am trying to think about the thesis is, what are the main points and what is the authors tone. Initially, I found myself reading mindlessly and forgetting what I read after every paragraph. So i have just been extra alert I guess..

Hey everyone! I'm new to SDN (although I've been going through threads quite often) and I'm planning to take the Jan/2013 MCAT. I'm a non-trad, so I'm going over a lot of content review right now. I just graduated, but I'm a full-time caregiver to my brother (until he gets surgery in the next month) and I work PT. It'll be my first time taking the exam, and here's my plan thus far:

1st part:
TPR Content Review, chapter questions and passages, and associated science workbook questions (for all subjects, alternating subjects on different days)--> Ex: Chapter 1-3 G-chem, chapter questions/passages, and then science workbook questions (~20)... Dedicating 3-4 hours/day in the beginning and increasing that to about 8 in the next few weeks (gradually)

2nd part:
Examkrackers Chapter Reviews, associated questions, and 30 minute lecture tests

3rd part:
Then go back and do TPR Science workbook passages

Is this a good plan? I looked at the plan proposed on SDN (3-4 month plan) and it seems like it wouldn't work as well for me since I have to review most of my core subjects. Just as an FYI: I currently have TPR, Examkrackers, and some Kaplan flashcards. When would it be good to do my first diagnostic? Start FLs? After reviewing a lot of threads, most say to keep the FLs for the month right before the test... what do you guys think? Lastly, I'm thinking about getting the EK 1001 series... thoughts?

I think this will be a great thread to keep me motivated on a day-to-day basis... since that is one thing I lack at home (and one reason for the late start in the study schedule). So thanks in advance to you guys... and I hope that I can motivate you throughout your hard work as well!

Yeah... definitely, but it's do-able. Just motivate yourself (remember why you're putting yourself through "hell"), take time to breath once in a while, and if you need a little push... don't be afraid to post or PM me.

Nova Physics book is filled with so much practice which is GREAT but so tiring I am thinking about only doing 1 ch a day now. I guess the studying is starting to take a toll on me. Can't wait for Sat. so I can break and watch hulu and comcast on demand all day.

I need that break on Sat. I can feel a burn out coming on.

Hmm..I won't be able to get started until 2pm today. I'm doing EK 1001s and TBR 2nd 1/3 of the passages. I hope I'll get to finish!

Well, I just wanted to make sure everyone is doing practice problems or passages with their content review.
From reading Nova's physics I learn that the main reason why practice is important is because if you do enough practice problems then when you take the MCAT you will have a seen passages very similar to the passages on mcat and since you already did a similar passage your mcat passage should be a breeze.

Anyway. I am done for the day.
I did the problems to Ch.9-- Energy
I read ch. 10 Fluids I do not have to power to do the questions.
I am breaking. I think I will break for the Fri. Sat. and Sun and come back Monday. I realize I need the break I could barely read today.
I should of break today instead of forcing myself to study.
